Here is the story.. last weekend when i was waxing my car.. i noticed that the trunk plate (not sure what it is officially called, its the bracket holder around the trucnk lock) came loose and it seems like that thing can fall off anytime....

so i went to the Willowdale dealership this morning and request to get it fixed under the warranty (my car is a 04 G35 with 92,000km on it)...... half an hour later.. the service manager Karim called back and said apprently the plastic clip under the plate is broken and that's why the thing is off the position.. ... and because it seeems like someone physically broke it.. it would not be covered under the warranty (who the f*** would take off that bracket and break off that clip on purpose??!?) ...

to make the matter worse.. he said it'd cost me $46 for the parts and $54 for the labour.. and if i decide not to purchase the parts there.. then he would still have to charge me $54 for so-called the diagnosis fee which only took him less than 3 mins ... so basically i am forced to pay $100 + tax to fix somethign that i expect to get fixed under the warranty......

apparently, this guy Karim is very happy that he finally nailed me down this time.........talking about experience with dealership... Infiniti Willowdale tops No. 1 in the worst service category....

Auto dealers in particular still haven't figured out a key fact in running a successful and profitable business

..... their customers are there biggest asset!!!

Why then do they think they can get away with crapping all over them???

Man I would probably end up punching that Karen guy in the face. That is the second time for you with that idiot stick. I would definitely consider to go to another Infiniti. I know it is not convenience to go a bit further but if it is less hassle it might worth it.

Dealers have TWO sources of revenue. When Nissan won't pay, you must or they can comp it forcing them to add your charges to some other poor soul.

If you are whinning about a measly $100 your future will be very painful in car ownership.

Obviously you are not one of the FRIENDS at a dealership who bring doughnuts and gifts and get many things comped. People everyone are happy to see every 90 days.

Screw that bringing doughnuts crap! I bring my car to the dealer to get fixed by competent mechanics and because I bought an Infiniti, I expect better service. They should have doughnuts and coffee for ME! Excellent service was supposed to be a part of the Infiniti culture...

If I wanted crappy service, I'd buy a GM.

Q45, I would whine to about a measly $100 for something that broke on my brand new car...they should have just fixed it, giving the guy a nice car wash and apologize for the inconvenience. Hell, they should throw in a free oil change! If you make the customer happy on the little things, they will come back for the bigger things, recommend the dealership to family/friends, and maybe even buy their next vehicle there!

+1 for Joe

IMO it is not about how much it is about what's right and what's not. It doesn't matter if it is $100 or 5k. As Joe said it perfectly. That's what you are expecting from GM dealer not from Infiniti.

Thanks for the info about how dealership makes profit, Q45tech! That's something new to me.....

i dont see myself as whining about that $100.. honestly speaking, if you are single, debt-free, living at home, and you are making $65,000+/year and you drive a G35, i dont think anybody woudl whine about $100 over somethign this small.. its the fact that i felt i was forced into paying them $100.00 with no other options in order to get my own car back .... i'd definitely share the same story and post it on the forum even if they only charge me $5.00 instead of $100.00

you are prolly right about me not being a favourate customer of theirs as i am only 25 years old and they prolly think i get money from student loans or from my parents to pay for my car... however, i do think that all customers should be treated equally and fairly regardless the age and the background.. jsut my 02...

That sucks. The 2 times I took the G to teh dealer, it was covered under the warranty,, so I didn't have to deal with this type of situation, but I did take the titan in several months ago to make sure a light ticking I heard wasn't a cracked exhaust manifold. The Nissan dealer checked that out and some other noise. When the called to tell me everything was fine, they told me they wouldn't be charging me for it. Even better, they washed the truck for me too.

I'm with Joe on this one.

Also, if my G is out of warranty, I'm taking it to my local NISSAN dealer instead. They're less expensive and don't have the CRAPPY attitude that the Infiniti dealer has. I bought both of my G's (new and previously loved) thru them anyway!!!!(my Nissan dealership is part of the Modern network that owns several Infiniti dealerships)

ZOZO, we'll have a few beers and go visit that infiniti dude..

I would have to agree totally with the theory that the customer is first. I am very fortunate to have purchased my car through an Infiniti dealer that has provided me with outstanding service. They DO have doughnuts, bagels, coffee, fruit, water, all for the customers. When I bought my '04 in '06, after getting it home, I discovered a small gouge in the wheel, and in the tire on the passenger front, as though someone had hit a curb or something. Upon informing the dealership, they scheduled me to come in immediately, bought me a brand new wheel and tire, and rented me a car for the day, (and always make sure that my car is returned to me clean)... all covered on my warranty. On every visit there, I have been treated just as I believe all customers should. It is worth every mile of the 37 mile drive.

I am really sorry to hear that your dealership is sweating you over $100... but I guess I have to ask, you said that you took it in to be covered under warranty... did you buy an extended bumper to bumper? At what mile point does it run out? I only ask because 92k is pretty high mileage.

its 92,000km not 92,000 miles ( i live in Canada )the bumper-to-bumper warranty here is 4 years /100,000k whichever comes first

Ahhh... got ya. My bad. Being pretty much the only country in the world that deals in Miles, I'm sure that you can understand my confusion! In that case I am REALLY stumped at why they would balk at a hundred bucks. (Or, would that be a hundred Moose, in Canada? lol)

To keep the long story short....

I have a Nissan dealer 5 klm's away.

I have an Infiniti dealer 12 klm's away.

Now that my G is out of warantee my "top rated", "independant service provider" 60klm's away will be my 1st choice for looking after my vehicle.

Like I said before, most automotive dealerships have not figured out the simple formula to get and keep customers.

PS... I was a highly rated customer service rep for the major computer company for 30 years. I know what customer service is all about.
