I bought it for unbelievable price. LOLI think I'm going to rebuild and paint it myself. Now I'm researching for Brake rebuilding and painting. Do you guys know any good sites for brake rebuilding and painting?

How about a q45 fsm and a can of vht caliper paint. As well as the rubber kit and the clip kit. be sure to get 2 clip kits as it only comes with enough to do one caliper on the clips. the rubber kit comes with enough to do 2 calipers.

dang beat me to it. it wiuld be cool if they were a direct bolt on without weird clearance problems.

They are a bolt on and since there sliding calipers they are much thiner on the wheel side of the caliper, I also got me a set for crazy cheap 30 some bucks, I gota get some rotors, redrill them. The rotors are 28mm wide. Oh yeah you can use your stock brake lines also because q45 uses banjo fittings.

wow cool just wish they were aluminium. still hot. even hotter with some sloted rotors. if i endup keeping my s13, i'm definately going to do this conversion!!!!(can't do z32 because of my funky arse wheels)

Nice. I always said if I did a brake conversion, I'd go this route.

my plan was 300zx calipers but after days and days of research, found Q45 is good enough (and cheaper too)

Yeah, mine work great. I have had them on there for 4K miles now. Be careful about the bolts that mount the caliper bracket to the spindle, the stock 240 bolts must be cut down 1/4 inch to keep it from hitting the rotor. SS brake lines are a good bet as well, they help offset the squishy feeling you get from the bigger calipers. Although it isn't as bad as the Z brake swap squishiness (hehe). VHT caliper paint worked good for me as well. Bright Silver matches the stock SE 5 spoke wheels. Be sure to wire brush all the crap off before you paint them. 40% more pad area is alot of stopping force. They are easier to lock up, but if you know how to brake properly, they will stand the car up on it's nose. My calipers cost me 60 bucks used, but well worth it.

What year q45's have the calipers that I need for my s13?

How about the rear??

edit: wait.... does this mean I'd need to be a 5 lugger?

unlike z32, the q45 brake conversion doesn't really have a front/rear bias problem.

therefore, stock mc, and no need for rear q brakes.

when you get brakes like these, and need to run 4 lug, you can always redrill the rotors to 4 lug. same with z32. it's not absolutely necessary to run 5 lug.

the q45 calipers will fit even stock s13 steelies, i think. or was it alloys?

so no one really makes 4 lug rotors that'd work for q45 calipers?

buy 5 lug rotors, and have them drilled for 4 lug. any competent machine shop can do it, or if you've steady hands, you can do it yourself.

that's badass that the steelie clears...

BTW: q45 will increase your brake bias from 70% to 78%... http://forums.freshalloy.com/u...art=1

in that link it says the 300zx front brakes bring it to 75% front bias, that doesnt seem like a problem to me?

Actually the 97-01 use the same ones.....

S13 owners generally dont use the rear brakes because the parkingbrake is different... The Q has a drum parking brake...

Im going to have a sweet set of drilled rotors and Q45 calipers for sale shortly!
