Seriously...I dont think it will take off like Sony would like it to.I am sure there will be a bunch of people who want to spend hrs and hrs on it but I think most won't.The only good thing about it is that you can bowl and play pool. But with very few lanes and tables you dont usually get to play when you want so its what ever...MinisterofDOOM wrote:It's about time.
Of course! There aren't any games to play...s13jus10 wrote:..and cabrita, I think you're wrong. I think many MANY people will spend hours and hours on it, while only some won't.
yeah it's something like that, and yes you can make purchases in the home environment through your psn account.MinisterofDOOM wrote:I think I've asked this before but: what exactly is home anyway? I haven't followed it closely as I don't have a PS3. From what I've seen it seems to be a sort of "second life" dealie but tied to your PSN account?
Yea like World of War Craft but gayer?MinisterofDOOM wrote:I think I've asked this before but: what exactly is home anyway? I haven't followed it closely as I don't have a PS3. From what I've seen it seems to be a sort of "second life" dealie but tied to your PSN account?
Your right but developing and maintaining some thing this large and intricate costs serious money. So if this BOMBS it is devinitley going to hurt Sony's bottom line...Which in tern will cost the consumers some way.s13jus10 wrote:I just got invited to the Beta also..
..and cabrita, I think you're wrong. I think many MANY people will spend hours and hours on it, while only some won't. Even still, it's a great thing to have on the PS3 and REALLY expands the options for social networking among PSN users. It's a HUGE plus for the system and the PSN community, being that it's FREE, and it's not like it takes anything away from the system.. it's just a big, free add-on.
If you can't do this, I don't think it deserves the name "Home." Home implies it's where you go for whatever you need to do for the system. It should definitely allow you to do XMB tasks, even if it cheaps out with a pop-up overlay like the 360's mini-dashboard.Red coupe wrote:B.) let you launch straight from home into your game, so that you could go meet up with friends then head off to your game...
Basically it would be nice if it was almost a second XMB, one where instead of having a basic menu screen you use it in 3d, almost like your PS3's virtual environment... Head home and jump on your computer to adjust system settings, go out and meet with the people on your friends list, have a game of pool and discuss what game to play... then head into CoD for some killing.
From what you and others are saying it really sounds like one of those online chat rooms you see in banner ads where you can make an avatar and play little minigames, am I way off there or is that more or less what Home is?Red coupe wrote:i could see it being worthwhile if they
A.) integrated the normal PS store into it (leave the normal one still) so that you can virtually go to a store and browse the isles.
B.) let you launch straight from home into your game, so that you could go meet up with friends then head off to your game...
