So I got a leak....any quick fixes? Or do i need a new radiator, if so, what kind?

the orange thing is nissan liquid gasket.

the oxidation, try and SOS pad

the leak, welcome to the 240sx. They will all crack right there at some point, drill a tiny hole on both ends of the crack and jb weld the crack and the holes, that should hold for a little bit.

Thanks for your guys' imput. I'll probably end up JB welding the radiator, hopefully that'll give me a few thousand miles before replacing it. I'm curious about this pepper solution though, about how much do you think it would take and if you'd care to explain the reasoning... On a side note, I heard that putting an egg into the radiator also 'fixes' leaks, although no explaination was given.

if you get a really bad leak in your radiator on the road before.. I have heard use an egg if you have one. it will clog the leak..

egg worked on mythbusters. but that was holes in the fins.

Side note, you can JB weld anything. not your typical flame welding you see on tv

Everett, WA. It's about 30 miles north of Seattle.

Sorry, I meant to say JB weld..

The leak isn't really that bad, just puddles on top of the radiator.

i blew open TWO radiators at that same point. Permatex makes a radiator repair kit for about seven dollars. I consists of some fiberglass-like material... most likely fiberglass, resin, hardener, an alcohol wipe.

It didnt work for me because i literally blew a two inch oval in both radiators. However, in your application i think it should work just fine, its probably even better than just JB welding it too.

i think you know what i'm saying, just ask where the permatex stuff is (ultra gray, ultra black, etc) most places have it, some don't but they make a lot of quick fix products, even for windshield cracks

jb weld would work or you could find a plastic welder and use that. I have one they work awsome. You just need to find the correct plastic rod out of the tube so it bonds to it. Jb weld would work the best if you havn't used a plastic welder before. Sems 2 part epoxy works wonders too.

Mine cracked too. I used the radiator repair stuff, then it just cracked again a few inches away so I got a new one.

yep, aint that the truth.

when i asked nissan if i could just get the plastic top tank they said no. However, when looking at my FAST, the top tank has its own part number, and the FSM actually walks you through removing the nissan end tanks, using a special tool of course, but its not something you couldn't rig up

so depending on the cost of a new end tank, which is probably a grip, you might be able to go that route too...
