Nico,I just purchased some new gold meshies yesterday and have been looking around everywhere (locally) for some tires.. Here are the selections that I'm considering:

Rim size: 16x7 all around..car: S13Use: Drifting/daily driver..Located in the Long Beach/Seal Beach area..

Falken Azenis Sport or the ziex in 195/50/16 .. any suggestions or comments? I also need to find a place that has these in stock.. So far, I've called 7 different places and none have them in stock..

Any help would be appreciated.. thanks..

I wouldn't use the Azenis sports in the rear for drifting, unless you are talking about the ST-115, which isn't sold in the U.S. in that size. I'd recommend something like FM901, ES100 or possibly a similar tire for the rear, and something a little better (read: stickier) up front. Azenis sports should work alright. I wouldn't consider the ziex, unless they were free. Same goes with the Kumho 712.

I've run a similar set up as suggested in similar sizes for daily driving/drifting/some grip driving (not enough tire to be competitive at all), for a while. It works well.

205/55-16 is the very best size for s chassis and comes in everything from touring tires to R compound for competition use

Thanks guys for all the replies.. I'll have pictures soon (someone has my digital camera).. The wheels are Riken, gold mesh with polish lip.. brand new! ! ... I got them from PJ Bonifacio the other day when I met up with him..

I called around and finally found someone who had them in stock.. Okay, for the azenis sport, 205/55/16 $420 all around.. the ziex are $380.. I'm thinking of just going with Azenis up front and some FM901, ES100 in the rears.. Thanks!

AVS ES 100s are a great tire for up front, but they have chunking issues when drifting, the Dunlop FM901s are a great tire, as well as the Falken FK451s for the rear. i think it'd pay u to find an extra set of rears since tires can get torn up pretty fast

whats the offset on thoes? looks a bit high. *shrug*

kumho 712 and ziex i have heard are good for rears. in the front you could run 205/55/16 they make a bajillion tires in that size. sidewall is a bit on the tall on that size however. (for my taste anyway, its probably technically better what with load rating and all, but im a ricer )

205/55 azenis sport in the front with similar size ziex would be a pretty decent drift setup.

ps i just checked on falken and they make grb 451 in 205/45 16? haha, that is a pretty jankey tire size but it would look cool if you slammed your car.

and i get most of my tires from http://www.edgeracing.com

No, they are no good for drifting in the rear. The tread will unglue with any amount of heat for the 712's. Even the 711 is a much better choice, IMO. The ziex just kind of....suck for the money. They don't like heat, and they do not offer much grip. I'd stick with a rear tire that can handle heat if you will be drifting. Your tires will last at least twice as long. Also, the 55 series sidewall will work fine. A 205/50 choice would be a little better, but the 205/55 might look a little bit better on a non-slammed car.

actually, the 711 seems to be a pretty good tire for the rear. Amazing enough. Doesn't last like as long as the ES100, but then it costs about half as much. I'd take the stiff sidewalls if cost and tire life are the same.

Yeah, my car is not slammed but can be lowered a lot more.. at the moment, i have steelies all around on pirelli p6000? can't remember.. It came with the car brand new when I bought it from the previous owner..

I'm not satisfied with the offset as well but I couldn't pass up a deal for $200.. These were never mounted.. all it had was dust but that was easily cleaned.. I was thinking of selling these and get some SSR's.. I'll just wait til I drop in the motor next week.. or the following week, whenever my car is done getting rust proofed and all that stuff..

my choice of tires: falken azenis 205/50/16 up front. As for the rears, still undecided.. I'm getting tires today and need to make a decision already..

thanks guys for your comments and suggestions..
