Tein tension rods are made of steel. Not very impressive to look at, but made of steel. Many other tension rods are made of aluminum with steel turnbuckles, or worse, are all aluminum. While quite strong, it takes a lot more aluminum to equal the strength of steel. This is more important in regards to the adjustment threads than the rod itself. Nothing wrong with an all-aluminum tension rod though. Quality manufacture goes a long way. After much consideration, construction was the determining factor in my purchase. I bought the Teins. As for the tie rods and ends, until recently I was running the Tein combo. It is equivilant to a stock S14 package in size, but heavier. I replaced that with the Wicked rod/end combo to correct some bump steer issues caused by some additional lowering. The rods were noticeably thicker than the Teins, and the rose joint end eliminated the steering, braking and driveability issues completely. I may have some concerns about the overall quality, but so far (4 months since install) have nothing negative to report. Keep in mind however, I remove my wheels and clean/inspect all suspenion and brake components every 4 to 6 weeks. I suggest to anybody that replaces stock pieces with after market to do the same at least twice a year. Regardless of name brand parts used. Any part is prone to failure.BUT, that's just a suggestion from an overly cautious old guy. What do I know?
