first off, the difference between the weber and the old hitatchi is night and day. It runs almost perfect. My question is that when you nail the gas, there is a slight hesitation before it will get up and go. Other then that there are no problems whatsoever. What would cause this and is there anything i can do to reduce or eliminate this? it is an 82 Z22 2wd. If it makes a difference, i removed all vac lines and the egr is sitting open right now, because i didnt have a hose to connect it to the new air cleaner yet

Close the EGR completely, and make sure the right jets are in the carb.

What do you mean right jets? I just bolted it up as it came out the box and adjusted the idle. Another problem I have is that from a stop if you nail the gas it will bog the notify down and shut off, but at higher speeds if you nail it it will hesitate for a second....what could cause that?

Also, what are you talking about when you say, close the EGR completely? Does exhaust backpressure try to open it and force EGR into the intake?

First. These carbs are sensitive to elevation and if not jetted properly will either run rich or lean causing it to bog down or not produce the power its supposed to.
Second. The EGR needs to be closed at the intake side to achieve proper vacuum and on the exhaust side to prevent exhaust gases entering he engine bay.

Sooooo, what you're saying is that a blockoff plate is in my future.
