I know exactly what hissing sound you are talking about (i think). It's during low boost, like when it's spooling up. And you usually aren't flooring it, more like moderate acceleration, and it sounds like it's coming from the turbo. I have yet to identify the source, I've sprayed carb cleaner all over every one of my couplers and it never surged, I took all my piping off and reinstalled it, still the same thing. I have no idea what it is. Maybe someone else can help out here? It almost sounds like something metal on metal, but I know the turbo isn't blown because A) it was just off a couple months ago with 0 shaft play and B) stock boost.

:dunno:

ryan, check your BOV !!! it maybe "loose" and leaking air during spool up.. it will hold under boost. but not on spool up ! mine was doing this ! packed some quarters into it to tighten the spring up and it solved the problemn

it could be your clutch, or your pressure plate, had a freind who had a similar problem with his accord he got it replace and it was fine, i dont know if that will help you, but it a start. if its yur transmission good luck i havent personaly rebuilt a transmission but from what if heard its not easy and its expensive to have someon to do for you,

I have a very similar air hissing sound. It is most prevalant at idle.. but it hisses until about 2800rpm.

slw240sx, I have an SSQV, how do I put quarters in there? I'll tighten it up tomorrow when I get my new clutch master; see if that fixes anything.

My GT did that popping out of gear thing in fifth gear last year while i was driving to Indiana. Turns out 5th gear was destroyed and i had cracked the housing. I really hope it's something else in your case coz i had to shell out a crapload for a rebuld.

well im not sure how to Adjust the hks super squential BOVs but i know mine just comes apart and has a spring inside and inorder to put more pressure on it you add "pack" washers! we were out of washers so quarters worked ! you might just be able to screw the bov tighter? did you adjust it when you got it ? it may need to be adjusted

for some reason thats when the BOV most liked to open on my car when it wasnt adjusted right! it caused some irratic idle and slugish response down low since it allows the car to run overly rich untill on boost when it stops leaking !

Nah, I tightened it, it didn't really seem to make a difference, seems more like it just made my BOV vent shorter and higher pitched.

This months Sport and Compact Car had an article all about BOVs. They menchened something about crushing down the cap to tighten up the spring rate. I think its only for mitsubishi BOVs but alot of car makers use there valves.

Sometimes excitement and dissapointment over shadows what i say online here.

After a month or so im starting to loose hope when things dont go well together. So what i will do is it give the cluthch and shifter a few more adjustments and see where it goes. I sure hope the transmission is fine otherwise ill be sad.

But thanks for everyones help and recommendations

Ill try to engage brain and disengage feelings before posting(key word is try)

thanks all

Hey man for the 4th gear problem you have, mine did the same thing. Check the rubber boot that bolts to the botom of the floor of your car before you do anything else. If it is in any way but the right way it will pll hte shifter out of 4th gear and only 4th gear. This should fix your problem.
