Hey implict, I was wondering if you could enlighten us on your customs situation. Over the zilvia.net board i think, a guy was having trouble getting his motor that he ordered from flashoptions. How was your situation with customs and what all did you have to go through? Thanks, Jed

customs was great... had no problem. Paid my 60 bucks, then went to airvan ( place where engine was freighted ) and paid 40 for some handling fees. When you send your 60 bucks you gotta send a copy of ur BOL ( bill of lading ). Then they will fax you some **** and release it..

Yes, im selling all that... i also have the discs for sale too.

Also i need all the help i can get on this swap. Like how hard and what not. Currently i have a SOHC in it.. Will post pics once the sun pops out ( mornin ) :ylsuper

Thanx to flashoptions!!!!

Waited for about 3 months to get engine. The messed up on my order thats why it took so long, but hey i got somethign extra added in the crate for free heheheeh well worth the wait..

if you're intimidated by the wiring, you can send the SR and KA harnesses to Afterdark Tuning or i'm sure numerous other shops and they convert it for you

and what would this free goodie be?

On heavy throttle, they said the sohc tach is diff and ****. i knwo that cause it can go higher in rpms... but since i got a tach with the motor...( a new gauge cluster kph ) wouldnt that work?

:thinker Why dont you people wait to get the motor started and running well before you start getting all giddy!!! wouldnt be the first time someone got all exited for haveing a physical motor, that they never can get running.....

You'd swear you just had your first kid, calm down.

Wow, you really rained on his parade. I'd be excited too if I just received my engine. Hopefully everything will go well with the motor and you won't have any probs implicit. Let us know how it goes.

Hopefully he wont have problems...

Yep, I see what you mean. I've never done a swap before so I know I'll be excited too. I remember the first time I saw an SR20DET engine. I was like oooohhhh!!! I felt like an archeologist who had found a legendary artifact.

I know what you mean, my 2nd CA was a lesson in that. I got it, pulled the pan off and valve covers to check it out, lookd damn good (cleanest motor I've ever seen for a swap actually) checked it for good compression. Stuck my GT2530 on it, spent a day getting it installed and looking NICE. Then I started it and guess what.... within 1.5 seconds (no bull) the number one piston shattered into literally 100+ parts. Rod got hung up on some parts and got bent, motor was toast.

All this happened to 2 very experienced installers who got the motor from a 'good' shop. Then I found out how much their customer suport sucked, it cost me $400 to ship a $800 pile of scrap iron around the country just to get my money back (2 months later).

I'm still not a big fan of FO and I've been watching this closely, hopefully you have better luck than I did from Soshin but don't count your eggs till they are hatched.

All im saying is that FO is a junkyard from everything i see...and they ship out motors...the more recommended places, ie. HT, ADT, have someone hand picking motors, and arent just taking the first one off the top of the pile to send someone...so the rate of good-bad motors is going to be higher.

When u get something 'cheap' your taking a chance its going to be good....that 'chance' is what saves you money....that 'chance' is what also leaves some people disapointed (not all)

Flash Options isn't cheap, not by a long shot. At least in monetary terms.

I know that when I do mine, the shop will inspect the engine first, compression test it and then run it at idle for an hour to in the clip to see how it runs before they take it out and do the install. Though, I have no idea where the gas will be coming from since the rear of the car is missing.

hi. I just bought my first sr20det , actually get it next sat. I too have a small problem... Ive changed engines before(not really engines, but V-8 boat anchor's. no offence to any one) but I've never done a swap like this before. I have a good friend who has done all the other work to my '93 240 who has a shop, and he is going to help me do this. Is there any thing I need as far as engine mounts or bracket's? The kit I have is supposed to be complete Eng, Trans, ecu,and wire harness. I have all kinds of info for the 240, through sport compact mag's as well just in case any body needs anything.

assuming the engine came with everything needed to make it run, all you would need is to get the wire harness re-cut. everything else pretty much fits right in. But you have to ask yourself, are you satisfied with stock???

That's the trick...they say "free shipping", but that's free shipping from Malaysia to a US port. Then you still have to pay for shipping from the port to your house. So you're still going to pay a couple hundred for shipping. And judging from what a few others have gone through, you may have to pay a few extra hundred to get it through customs. But you've made a good choice to go with an accredited shop, so you don't have anything to worry about :D
