Well I got my motor from Osaka yesterday and me and a friend started tearing it down just to clean it up and such.

Well I got some issues and questions on some things.

First off, my intake manifold, where a coolant hose bracket attatches, well it was broken when I got the motor, leaving a big hole in the intake...calling Osaka to get a new one, hopefully they listen.

You can see the hole in this pic

Also part of my harness is cut. Right past the grommet on the engine bay side of things about a foot in. Calling Osaka, hopefully they listen.

And then I got some questions. The shifter. When I put it into 5th, no joke, you can spin the shifter all around the hole. Like not just the shifter itself spinning, but i can pull it around in circles around the edge of the hole. Every gear works tho. Something broken inside? A friend suggested a plastic piece that goes inside might be broken, and a short shifer wud fix the issue.

Another issue. Is this where the slave goes, and when I get a new one will this problem be fixed? The rusty part is where it seems the slave broek off, am I correct?

Also does anybody know what this little brown box is? It had water dripping from it when i got the motor...?

Also I noticed the RB has A LOT of coolant lines under the intake, can most of these be blocked off or deleted with the exception of getting coolant to the temp sensor and other importtant areas that need cooling?

Also, the engine came with an already installed oil cooler. I DO NOT WANT TO RUN THIS, but have some questions. We unbolted what seems the oil filter assembly from the block (four bolts), but now we're trying to find out, will the fitting on this part unscrew that goes to the oil cooler assembly?

You can kinda see it in this pic, Ill try getting a better pic

Any help wud be great guys, thanks!!!!

omg dude.. you should reaaally listen to what people say about Osaka motors.. and if you don't believe that crap... then listen to this

i'm from montreal.. and let me tell you that 40% of what come out of that place is s***.. why? because they have their own junkyard in Japan and they get the worst crap cuz they pay penuts to get the scrap cars(that are truly scrap).. because of this they sell for less...yet again you get what you pay for.. Osaka sell Quantity..not quality and because of this costumer satisfaction takes second place.

people will always be attracted by the lower price.. can't blame them.. but when it comes to to the heart and soul of your car.. (your engine) pay the god damm 100$-500$ more and get the good stuff.

personally the only JDM shop i deal with is JDM Racing Motors.. i've never seen soo many happy people there.

so take it from a guy that has actually worked for JDM Shops here in Montreal.

P.S. the wather in that box is from the presure washer they use to clean their dirtry a** engines and not letting it dry

Slave broken by a bad fork lift driver

manifold broken because they don't know how to lift an engine when they take it out of the container..

i've seen this happen to engines...that's why i know

I think the little brown box is your wiper amp. I have one that came with my s14 sr. If it's not the wiper amp, it is still something to do with your wipers.

id def call osaka and demand you want another intake manifold and harness, about the oil cooler, rbs need a external oil cooler if you run it hard, and the shifter issue, you need to replace the lower shifter bushing, the ka bushing will not work, neither will the rb20s, mack at mckinney motorsports has them in stock.

osaka has been known to have bad customer service, good luck with the swap, i hope everything works out!

I'd write that off and look for new/performance parts. ISIS or GReddy intake manifold. Get a new slave and maybe even a new trans if its screwed.

a new slave is needed and the transmission isnt screwed, it needs a new lower shifter bushing, the same problem has happened to me to many times with the lower shifter bushing popping out or wearing out

#1 problem.Osaka.

Your not going to get f*** all from them, call your credit card company now and dispute the charges, its the only way to leverage them.

I know from experience, i got a CA from them it had water all around the spark plugs, a cut harness, broken motor mount bracket, blown turbo, and all i got from them was the run around.

How hard is it to replace the lower shifter bushing in the transmission? Do I just need to take the plate off?

Also, I ordered this with my bank account, used my tax return money, so how would I go about dealing with that? Would I just call my bank account and tell them whats up?

Im calling Osaka Monday, I WILL get things fixed with them even if it gets legal.

+1 on brown box being wiper amp, think this is the cause that my wipers stay on and dont want to park in off postion. My wiper amp recently picked up water and think it messed something internally in that box.

Hear bad things about Osaka, and this just proves the way they do business.

You should of read my post in this thread.zer...-read

I also heard that they have bad communication skills, and are prick when you ask them do something.

Try to contact them and, get it straighten out if possible. If not think you should report them to BBB(Better Business Bureau).

Hope you get this taken care off. How much coin did you drop on this motor set if you dont mind.

At least it came with remote mounted filter.

I know people want to save money any way they can because of the economy. You should of got the motor set from J-hot or similar importer with good rep. Unless you got a hell of a deal on this motor set from Osaka.

I paid $1950 shipped.

They were pricks to me when I called in to order the motor. Like a "hurry up, we dont got all day" kind of attitude.

Im not keeping the remote mounted filter. Is there anyway that I can put that back to stock? We unbolted the housing from the block, and it looks like the kit screws onto the stock filter connection, am I correct in this assumption..?

Any ideas on what the cut part of the harness may go to?

Did you get a trans with this or just motor, I got it kind of mixed up with Rb20, cause $1950 is a lot but for Rb25 is decent price if with trans. And it being efe-up blows, you cant even use it the way it is. Plus it seems the wiring is cut, did you get ECU with it.

Sorry about the wiring if you take more pics and update it in your thread. Than someone might know what it's for.

Never mind, you asked about the trans shifter bushing, stupid me, so that means you got the trans. Just didnt notice it in the pics. And you posted pics of slave cylinder, I'm kind of tired that's all.

My lower harness was cut (where it goes to the fuse box and bat. thats not a big deal when you have a harness made they splice it in to the factory harness therethe slave sucks cuz they are vehicle specific if i remember right.i would buy a Greddy or some other intake manifold as long as that one is junk. if you need another oem i have one laying around that i would sell you for like 40-50 just so i can get rid of it! Let me know and good luck dealing with the crap service!

Yes, wiper amp. Keep it because you'll need it if you want wiper controls.

For the shifter, it sounds like the bushing inside is shot. Take the cover plate off and look inside. Should be obvious.

Can't see the wires of the cut part of the harness. Might not be important, but won't know until you look up the wires on the wiring diagram.

If you need a lower intake manifold, I have one too.

to replace the lower shifter bushing pull the shifter out of the transmission, you do not need to pull any plate, you flip up the rubber bushing on the lower part of the shifter and remove the c clip n pull the shifter out, the bushing is on the bottom of the shifter,

hope everything work out

Damn im in the same position but with an rb20

i got mine from this place in canada called tigerjapanese an they screwed me over 1300 with the lowest compression u can think of with a cut harness an opened ecu looked all tampered with. My opinion its better paying a little extra for a better quality motor an know somebody who can refer u to a good business..
