Hello everyone. I got my 1994 Q the other day and it is in better shape than I thought (I bought it off ebay sight unseen in LA and had it shipped to me in Phoenix). I have not tried the NOS out yet because I know nothing about it, so until I educate myself the bootle stay's off. My question is how hard is it to change the gears in the rear end to a lower ratio? I am pretty mechanicaly enclined could it be done in the garage? This is the first upgrade I will do since the car already has several goodies on it and the Nico ECU's are not yet available. Any help would be appreciated/

Thanks

if you have the JWT ECU you arent going to want to use the NICO ecu because then you cant use the nitrous...

The JWT nitrous system is very simple/rudimentry. Heres how it works: Inside the ECU is another borad, and when you flip the arming switch (wherever it is) that engages the nitrous board. When you hit WOT, the ECU bypassed the JWT chip and engages the other board, which basically holds the injectors at a high duty cycle. Rick has put in a 150 jet into his Q and it works fine, im gonna do the same thing as soon as I find my JWT ECU (yes I lost it, I fail)

I know people will disagree with me, and I dont really care, but 4.08 diff is stupid IMO when we have high stall torque converters. Hands down those are better than 408. If the 408 was cheaper and easy to do it may be different, but its not.. Ive driven a Q with a 4.08 and my Q with the high stall and I bet off the line my Q would win.. that Q had headers so it was obviously faster than my Q slightly.

With the spray you dont really want a lower rear gear anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. Does the JWT ECU raise the HP and Torque without using the nitrous? Or does it simply make the use of nitrous possible? Also with a 150 jey what is the HP gain when you hit the nitrous?

Thanks

Yeah its like a JWT ECU without the spray, which is just a little bit behind the NICO ECU as far as HP/tq gains (say 20 for JWT and 30 for NICO)

the 150 jet will give you 150 more HP at the crank.
