Got my new car this week.

After selling the s14 and not having any sellers remorse I bought another car this week. It's a 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII . I am pretty happy with the deal seeing as it only cost me $700 and has no mechanical flaws. It needs a new turn signal housing, which I bought on ebay for $25 bucks and a little cleaning but other than that good times are sure to ensue. I will post up some pics in the days to come. Here is a similar car for those of you who don't know the car.

I started researching them a few weeks ago and from what I can tell they are really good cars. Just like any other car they have their specific problems but most of them I am aware of and weren't that serious to turn me off to the idea of the model.

I recently took my friend's Mark VIII on a 700-mile drive. Soaring through riverside and mountain curves at high speeds was a cinch. Three of us fit in the car with no issues whatsoever. He won't sell it to me because he's a h0m0. [I'm calling you out, Bo.]

those cars always intrigued me for some reason. they were the first car that i ever saw HIDs on in my life. great price for a great cruiser tho. i think i might have to look into one of those things if i find myself in need of another toy..............

NO LSC, NO care.My 88 LSC had electrical issues like whoa. I bought it with 64K on the clock and sold it with 157K. I loved the car.

your first mod should be getting an Art Carr transmission

I can't remember which transmission it got though initially the AOD or the 4Rw71...****, I think that's the code on that one...

Yeah the air ride seems to be top notch no leaks, rotted sway bars or any other stupid little problems. The first thing I am doing to this transmission ,by the way a 4r71w , is changing the accumulator piston and springs, filter, and fluid to a full synthetic. I might consider the j mod down the line as a friend of mine with a mustang has that done and it is badass. I probably will put on a transmission cooler as well mostly for reliablilty. After driving it for a week I am more than happy with it and don't plan on getting rid of it any time soon.

For $700, that's a hell of a lot of car.

I love my Mark. My air ride is still working fine however I see signs of it starting to go. I'm going to just replace it with springs that lower the car about 1 inch all the way around.

Mine is quite plain looking but what a rush when you stomp on the go pedel.

You can get them into the high 13s in the quarter with basically a 4.11 rear end, the transmission work done (www.markviii.org will tell you how), and nitrous. Stock, the 93 can do the quarter in something like 14.5 if well tuned, but 14.8/14.9 is average or so.

Nothing beats beating a kid in his rice rocket with a grandpa car that has handicapped plates.

I am not too worried about the air ride going bad because you can buy new bags on the cheap and put them on in an afternoon. I am surfing markviii.org and a couple other sites for info. I am keeping it as stock as possible over the winter then come spring I can take care of business.

The reason why I want to put springs on mine is because the conversion kit is only about 400 bux and super easy to install and then you never have to worry about the air ride system ever again. There is a lot to the air ride system, not just the bags. My air pump is getting noisy and one of the front bags has a slow leak. Just easier to replace the bags with springs and deactivate the whole system.

Not factory but cheap and worry free.

The air ride is cool., you hit 55, the car drops about 1 1/2 inches, you hit 35 after slowing down, it raises back up.

I moved the ride height sensors down on my 88 LSC so the car sat lower all the time.

I've read about doing that. I might consider doing that or maybe a fast bag setup. Right now I am not messing with any performance or visual stuff, just reliability.

I never really looked into when I had the SC....didn't feel like ripping out the functioning ARC
