well, i got my Boost Designs manifold along with their 3" downpipe. So far, I am pretty impressed with it. The bolts on the manifold were easy to access with a wrench. The oil lines were easy to route. The placement of the flange on top of the manifold for mounting the turbo is perfect. You could pretty much run any t3/t04e turbo with it. i had a professional TIG welder that welds in nuclear power plants look at it. he told me that "someone knew what they are doing." The porting of the manifold near the head flange is nicely done.

i am now running and open wastegate setup and open downpipe since before the FMax manifold was provisioned to recirculate the exhaust out of the wastegate. Even though my turbo sits alot higher compared to my previous side mount FMax log manifold, I didnt have to cut any intercooler or intake pipes. I was able to clock the turbo just a hair and everything fits just fine with my previous piping and routing.

the turbine housing clears just fine considering mine is bigger than most t3 housings. i also have a inconel heatshield which closes up the gap as well. expect more clearance of the master cylinder with a .48 ar or .63 ar turbonetics or garret 5 bolt turbine housing.

the car is so fast now. everyone says with a equal length that the low end will be hurt alot more. well, somehow there's better transient response and alot more torque around 3000 rpms. I can cruise around 35-40 mph in second gear and it just literally scoots the car sideways. the high end is completely sick now.

good job Boost Designs. Top-Mount setups are so much more aggressive looking. you wouldnt believe how the car sounds now. its like a screaming diesel truck!

now, here's the pics.dyno, track and along with charts, slips and video footage comming soon!

Very very nice. I hope you have good results with it.

BTW - How much did you pay for it? I can't find a price on the web site.

Dam thats a pretty good price. I might have to get rid of the JGS manifold and my homemade cracked downpipe. The location looks really good. Keep us updated, please.

i'd say just from this post and review alone, boost designs just got got some more sales. i will probably buy this. thanks man, it's a good little review.

i'm curious what turbine trims you are using and when you see boost. i'm also wondering how much boost you are running. hell, i'm curious about your WHOLE setup! LoL

no problem man. im running a Precision SC61 which has a 61mm compressor wheel in a TO4E housing. On the exhaust side is a t3 .63 ar housing with a 76 trim t350 wheel in it (similar to Turbonetic's stage 5 wheel).im glad u like it.

Looks very nice. Clearly not equal length, but very nice, especially for that price. Now someone needs to get their entire kit and give a review.

Great pictures. How will this translate to on a S13?

Oh and I hate to thread jack but I don't believe you still run stock ignition on that setup. What kind of gaps are you using?

yep stock ignition and .025" for those higher boost runs (24 psi)

it is a pipe coming from the collector where the wastegate (controls boost levels) is mounted.

When a turbo reaches the desired boost pressure, the wastegate will open and let exhaust circumvent the turbine so it doesn't keep boosting higher.

gotcha, I should've known that, I know what a wastegate is, just not exactly how it mounts up, thanks. That brings me to even more questions but I dont want to threadjack, search time...

Did that downpipe come with 2 O2 bungs prewelded or did you ask for that specifically.

The only reason I ask is I'm doing a builup right now and the kid wants to get a wideband but can't get any kindof fuel control yet to modify the signal and I'm thinking just wire both up with the wideband acting as a meter only for the time being

i got it from ATPwrap.com. It's made out of inconel which is 3000 deg. farenheit resistant. Expect to pay between $250-$350 for it.http://www.atpwrap.com/turbo.htm

What's up w/your PS resevour? Did you have to mount it like that? I'm assuming that's custom IC piping, right? 'Looks good: I prefer the low-bling look of piping(ie not polished), but that's just me. Makes it look like it belongs there.

its a fmax intercooler kit and thats the way its designed to work with.the piping is powdercoated.
