looks decent. Be sure to post up after installation, I would be interested in getting one myself. Does it come with that shift knob attached?

sorry not to be mean but from personal exp it's probably crap

I thought shifter are all the same but I was wrong, I bought a similiar one at a similar price and I changed it back to stock within 12 hours

one issue that I can see is the pointy part on the bottom, the part that do the actual shifting, does not match with the internal shifter linkage very well (I don't know what else to call the thing) and the shifting, although shorter, will be rough

I ended up getting a C's short shifter

Great looking shifter! Just remember that you need to take the plastic cap off the end of your stock shifter (around the ball at the bottom) and put in on the short throw one. I got the OBX shifter myself and it didn't come with a new cap on the ball. When I installed it without one it was real mushy and loose while driving. If you don't you'll see what I am talking about! Be careful removing the cap though it's a B*#$&! Try not to break it either!

when you say rough, do you mean like a very non-positive engagement, grinding or what? Cause I already have a few grinding issues and probably wont get a ss if it will make matters worse

it was som pathetic, some gears are tight and some gears are lose. Some gears I can move around while it's in gear, some gear felt longer while some felt shorter. The whole thing just felt loose and cheap.

Short shifting is not good for your transmission from what I read because you need to give time for the syncros to match. To combat this, I usually shift slow unless I am in a playful mood.

search is your new best friend, I beliueve there are more than a few thread pertaining to SS install on 240sx and its counterpart motors. But here is a good write up on zilviahttp://www.zilvia.net/installs/obxss/doc.asp

I think he meant that the shifts aren't smooth. You know how when you shift it almost shifts itself, with a S/S you have to actually push it into gear. Getting one for my S14 was one of the best things I ever did. I love it over stock. The only thing I didn't like was that it was the same height as the stock one so I fixed that by cutting it and rewelding it together.

I have a B&M Short Shifter in my car and its the best, most positive and exact (yet smooth) engagement I have ever felt in a manual.

Too bad it rattles terribly..

Paid $175 (local pick-up).

Cant wait to hear how it works for you..

Fred..

I agree with Loveless to, it sucks, i tried this one and a B&M knock off from e-bay which doesn't rattle but it doesn't really feel much shorter than stock. From my experience B&M is the only way to go and that's if you can deal with the buzzing noise. Hope it works out for you though. Let me know if you find out a way to make it work better, I'll try putting it back on.Josh

is the buzzing only on s14's? i've never heard my b&m make any noises... I love it, the throw is so short, and smooth.. When i first installed it, I was confused everytime I shifted thinking it wasn't in gear, especially reverse.

it affects the ca, ka, sr, rb

only some of them rattles

b&m later came out with a v2 of the SS that supposedly doesn't rattle

i bought the exact same shifter from teh same person. it didnt come with any instructions and i didnt have any freinds that could help me, so i ghetto rigged it in with some jbweld and a few other things and it worked for about 1 week. but since i do a lot of drifting and since it rattles like a mother****er at about 5000 rpm i got rid of it. hell i couldnt even hold onto it while i was driving.it tore the plastic shifter cup to shreads about twice a week. they sell them at the dealership for about 1 buck a pop. if you do decide to use it buy yourself new ones.

i do rember seeing after about 2 weeks after i got mad and threw all the **** in the woods i found instrucions online somewhere on how to put that exact one that i had in, i was kinda pissed but...

i dont know what all you people are talkin about.. i dont know if you guys got the same kit i did because mine works wonderfully.. such an easy install.. pretty much self explanitory.. we had one question though and Chris from undergound answered it with just one phone call.. i highly recommend this shifter to anyone and especially from underground. The throw feels so smooth and so short.. 2nd to 3rd for the first time was incredible.. kit came with absolutely everything needed for the install..

overall an incredible deal.. product.. and improvement.. all for $50.. buy it...write-up and pics coming soon

I agree with asher, we did this install in about a half an hour. test drove it right after the install and it worked just fine. shifts were shorter and smooth as well. Went through all the gears and no problems.

Congrats on the install. I loved mine and I still do! Some people are just hard to please, you have to remember that you are driving a Nissan not a $100,000 Porshe so it's supposed to be fun not perfect!

Maybe you just haven't found the right one yet. I tell you what though if I had a extra $11,000 lying around I would definitely pick up one of those HKS sequential transmissions! HOT!

Did you take that plastic cap off the stocker and put in on your short throw like I mentioned, or did yours actually come with one? Mine didn't!

im assuming you are talking about the small little cap thing that goes on the smalll ball.. yes, mine was in the box. Brand new. as well as the larger plastic ring that goes inbetween the big ball and the big cyclinder. We had to cut through part of it in order to open it a little and put it on the shifter
