I got my lowering springs the other day and my friend and I installed them. We had quite of a time with the third bolts on the strut tower and my Versa "ate" two of our 13mm sockets.

Now the back springs make no noise going over bumps or anything, but the front two springs make a clunking noise and we can't figure out what the problem is. I was thinking that maybe it could be the top of the strut tower because when we unscrewed it the bolt was a little bit further down the screw on the top of the tower, but we could only get it flush so the top of the screw is perfect with the top of the bolt. It was just turning the strut.

Any ideas of what the problem could be and what I need to do to fix it?

P.S. It rides smooth other than going over speed bumps right now.

Are your front springs sitting correctly on the struts?

the front will make noise, something to do with a bearing, but anyways if the back springs are making noise im wondering if you seated them correctly.... the rear springs come with the rubber things so you can quiet them down... not sure how to place them....

It could definitely be your upper strut mount or the upper bushing. Have you had the suspension aligned since the install? If not, that's probably why it's clunking. I've had some very unpleasant noises come from my strut towers on cars badly in need of alignment before.

is it like a super clunking sound? i had a similar problem but when i installed my strut bar. if the bolts are to long for some reason the spring will make a popping/clunking sounds. got smaller bolts and it went away.

Its not really loud, but are you talking about the bolts that are on top of the strut tower?

Did you mark where the original bolts were on the top of the strut before you removed them if not go back and see if you can see the marks where they were at.because you can rotate the strut mount via the 3 bolts at the top clockwise or counter clockwise.

My struts made the exact same noise when I installed my Tanabe springs and it freaked me out. Turned out I just needed to tighten the strut cap nut on the top of the strut under the hood. It loosened as they seated themselves after driving for a while, and clunked every time I hit a bump. A 6mm allan key and an 18mm open ended wrench solved the problem completely. Suspension is whisper quite now.

This is exactly what happened to me. lol The strut kept spinning when I was trying to tighten it so I figured it was as tight as it could be but I guess I was wrong. Used the allan wrench and a 19mm to fix the problem. Worked like a charm!

Thanks for all the support guys. I will post pictures tomorrow after I give it a wash. :D

P.S.- Blindsnyper contacted me and there is a meet in Canby we might be attending. Anyone else wanna come!?
