Sweetness.

You have any pictures of it out of the car?

Did you paint it black or is that just the lighting?

Intercooler and no turbo?WTFSo your'e choking off the air to your n/a KA by making it suck air thru 4-5 ft of piping? Why bother installing it if you don't have a turbo yet?

of course... as long as it's lined up asap that's fine, if not, you may as well leave the stock intake intact

I don't think he/she connected the thing. I mean that would be moronic. I would hope that thing is just mounted there restricting minimal air flow to the rad/engine and nothing else. Could also be test fitting?

That would be the right thing to do, since it's winter the radiator wouldn't suffer too much anyway.

Looks very good! You might want to put a mesh in the grill to prevent crap from getting into the intercooler.

I think she said she was going to do the CA18 because the SR is soo overdone/beaten to death!

I know everyone seems to think sucking through the intercooler would be stupid but let me throw this out there. Yes I think the response on rapid throttle action would suffer but don't forget it IS an intercooler, it would benefit from sucking air from outside the engine compartment and close to the ground=colder. Additionally it would further cool the intake charge as it went through the intercooler on it's way to the intake. I'm willing to bet under a full head of steam something like that might give you a good 5hp or so.

Well, the thing is, a cold air intake would achieve the same thing. I mean, might as well go w/the frount mount intake some one else posted. Let's not forget that the coolest air you'll ever get is ambient temperature, and that's if the intercooler was 100% efficient. Now, why go route an intercooler that will heat soak w/the radiator when you can route a cold air extension away from ANY heat?

Ok people, I think we got way off track here. This person obviously knows what they are doing. They probably did NOT install the intercooler without a turbo or supercharger on the engine. It is possible that he/she just mounted the intercooler without hooking it up. Or it is possible that he/she just forgot to change her sig.

Give this person the benefit of the doubt.

That looks rather awesome I think, wish it was illuminatted so we could see it better. Also, this is a little off topic but were ALL Volvo intercoolers front mount?(appreciate info). Hope you get some more pic of the progress up soon.

*Edit* Whoa, just realised you removed that divider piece, was that neccessary to make the i/c fit?

Alright...I haven't been on here in a while so I have a lot of replying to do...

1) It is not hooked up, the pipes are fit though...I am waiting on a couple more paychecks to buy the turbo and the manifold is started, but not finished...I have a turbo timer & gauges on the way, I just bought some injectors, and I still need an SAFC, a fuel pump, boost controller, and a couple other things...2) It is not painted black - it is stock like that3) I am a girl 4) It is not rice, I just went ahead and had it mounted - one less thing to worry about, and yes, I'm on a budget5) It is pretty big, search Volvo intercoolers on Ebay and you can see them

Oh yeah, and it's going KA-T

I love when people use that as a reason not to go SR. I mean shoot, why not go with another car altogether cause it seems as if almost everyone on this board has a 240. Talk about over done. Oh, wait

I'm still trying to figure out if what TMS said is an attempt at sarcasm or if he has gone dilusional.

Well, they do have those "interfooler" kits for Hondas that are nothing more than a fancy shmancy intake, but I don't know if he was being sarcastic or not. All I know is mine is not functional at this moment, but will be soon.

it is dynoed that some bad design of intercooler looking intake have actually best performance gain over short ram intake and cold air, however due to the length of piping, the throttle response sucked. Whether this is rice or not is subjective as it does give some gain while sacrificing quite a bit. If you need the dyno charge I'll have to pull it from hondatech.

Many people will call you a ricer so long without that turbo. You should probably take it off in the mean time. I am sure part of you mounted it for the factor of "looks".

Don't bother dissing the honda intake, your car is worse off at it's CURRENT state.

Loveless i saw an article about that intake showing more gains than short-rams somewhere as well

i personally dont think it is "ricey" i mean at least she has admited that tis' NOT functional isntead of lying about it

I say who gives a F*** about what other people think. You obviously have your project in the works, it's what YOU want to do, how YOU want to do it and in YOUR time. That's all that matters, I mean it's your car not anyone else's. BTW good luck with your project and the IC looks good..
