I got my nuvi into the cubby hole exactly the way i wanted to!took 2 days to figure out how to do it and it was one of those times that when you get it right you go "damn how did it take me this long"all i need know is to hide the wires better, i already hid most of the power wire under the center console back to the arm rest, but the bit to the gps still bothers me, and im scared to lift like the radio to hide more of the wiresorry about my voice i had a sore throathttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPYwCENDfzM

It will look good after you hide the wires. Put it thru the center console and it will be much more pro looking. You can hide all the wires.

Love it.. Especially because of how much I despise the user interface on the built-in GPS units and wish Infiniti would just outsource the GPS unit to Nuvi or TomTom or Anyone else but them..

Had a nuvi I loved. Left it on the dash (by accident), and came back out to the car to find it gone, and my driver side window shoved in via tire iron (which turns out is not a surgical instrument). $4500 dollars in (insurance covered) damage later, I was sold on the built-in gps units..

So.. while I hate, Hate, HATE the built-in gps units, and really like your mod that I must have spent hours thinking about when I had my nuvi, do yourself a favor and hide the wires as best you can and keep the hatch lid closed hiding it.. Goto the FM broadcaster (depending on your model) and you can get rid of the tape adapter (right? might be misreading the pic)..

I dig it, big time..

Here are some pics of my Garmin 5000. I hard wired it into the cig lighter and all the wires are hidden. I chose the 5000 because it was the largest one I could find to fill the hole. I love it.

I mounted my Nüvi in the cubby hole, but wanted to be able to remove it with no holes or what a future owner might consider "damage."

Easy enough with some superlock velcro and a 2"X 3" aluminum plate. Velcro the plate to the back of the cubby door, then velcro the GPS mount to the plate, locating the mount so the cubby door can be closed with the GPS unit attached. I plug into the cigarette lighter. The cord doesn't bother me, but I don't use the unit that much. The cord is stored draping it over the back of the unit, then closing the cubby door. Works for me, your mileage may vary.

i would use it almost every day because i wired it into the stereo to use as a music player and the traffic report thing on it is greatand i hate the way the wire spoiled the look of the interior.
