Hello fellow Nicolclub members. So I just got a ticker for CVC 24601 License plate light not functioning and failure to update address within 10 days (I did not know of this one). How have you dealt with this or what can I do about it. I asked the officer if it was a fix it ticket, "is not a fix-it ticket". What actions do you recommend I make? Thanks.

BTW: I live in California

It absolutely is a "fix it" ticket. Whoever pulled you over is a moron.

10 Most Common "Excuses" to Stop/Detain Drivers
(All citations refer to the California Vehicle Code)

#1: License Plate Light Not Functioning (VC 24601)
FIX - Check your license plate lights regularly and replace the bulb(s) if necessary. Your plate must be visible from 50 feet away at night.

Fix your light and take a picture from 50' away, at night. Take that to court with you, along with the receipt for the new bulb.

I see. Yea I was really worry, I don't want to pay big fine just for one light bulb being out. Thank you Greg, I appreciate your time and information. Now, I could sleep good and not over think it.

I'm surprised they gave you a ticket. I got a warning when I had a license light out. That was after he tailed me about a mile on a residential road, then into the turn lane, then onto the on-ramp, and another half mile after merging onto the interstate. All to tell me my license plate was out.
Sucks that you have to waste time going into court, but it shouldn't be tough to take care of. Good luck.

it was going to be a warning but then Pento offered to settle it in the backseat :inoutgay:

What Greg said, not a big deal but retarded to waste you and the courts time. You just received that one ticket?

qwoods LOL, I loved super troopers. I wen to the police station today and got a very nice cop. He went with me to check out the car and said does the license plate lights on? I was "Yes" ok your good and signed the inspection off. After I went to court to pay the $25 dollar fine. But they told me, I have to wait 4 weeks for their system to get updated with my info.

Back when I had my hemi ram I replaced the rear bumper with a bolt in fiberglass roll pan. I painted it all week and finally finished the install in the wee hours of Monday am/ Sunday night.

I'm driving to work the next day feeling like a champion. I passan on ramp where a motorcycle officer is just getting on . He came flying up on me and had me get off and pull into a parking lot.

I had in my sleepy haste installed the license plate and expired registration tab from our long sold 2003 Camry and I had bright blue led plate bulbs. He let me go with just my word I would fix it all when I got home.

He also liked my truck and wanted to talk about the mods including the nitrous

I guess the districts technology is old hahaha.

Well the cop that stopped me was kind of a ahole. He made me worry, thinking I got a ticket instead of a fix-it ticket. Thankfully it was just the fix-it ticket. Next time I will make sure everything is to top specs, so no excuses can be found to give me a ticket.

NO, 4 weeks is because it takes a government employee 1 week to improperly train the temp, 2 weeks to go on vacation, and one week to recover from vacation.

Gotta be honest: even in the context of that image, I still consider failure to signal to be the greater evil and is one of the specific traffic laws I'd like to see enforced more.

Not that I missed the point.

But seriously. People who don't use turn signals are going to the special Hell.

I just hope there's some room left over for those exhibiting poor lane discipline as well.

This. They should make the driving test harder. Like if you forget to signal before making your turn, it will be an automatic fail of test. If I worked at the DMV, there would be less idiots driving around my town.

I'll bet he was profiling you. He probably assumed you had some illegal mod on the car or was going to smell pot when you opened the window. He was probably pissed that he couldn't cite you for anything real, and so he threw the book at you you. I had a cop do this trying to get me with a DUI. I left a parking lot after going to the ATM one night. The ATM was in the same parking lot as a popular bar. I got pulled over as soon as I left the parking lot. Once he realized I wasn't drunk (he made me blow in the breathalyzer TWICE, and I blew .000 both times) He claimed I was swerving and not maintaining a lane, failed to stop leaving the parking lot, changed lanes too close to an intersection (the exit for the parking lot was about 20 yards from a major intersection, and I had to cross 3 lanes of traffic to get into the left hand turn lane), failed to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle (He said I didn't pull over quickly enough), no tag light, no break light, no turn signal light. When I saw the ticket and saw all the citations I started to flip out and argue with him. We were standing behind my truck (I had a jeep at the time) and showed him that the lights were all there and functioning, but that I had JUST got done driving down a dirt road and they were just covered in dust. His response? "It's your responsibility to make sure your lights are properly visible" I asked him what the definition of properly visible was. He said, "That's for me to decide. I'm not going to stand here and waste any more of my time with you. Get in your vehicle and leave or I'll start writing you another ticket" I was FURIOUS. He was trying to bust somebody for a DUI and when he didn't get it, decided to be an a**. I was only 19 at the time and so I stupidly just paid the ticket, not knowing any better. In hindsight, I would have hired a Lawyer and tried to get that ***hole fired... it STILL pisses me off when I think about it.

^ I had something like that happen when I was the DD for a night out about 9 years back.

Out at a bar with the guys. Getting the short end of the stick, I was nominated as the designated driver, but I had been drinking at the bar- one light beer an hour- while the guys got sloshed. The cop pulled me over immediately after I left the parking lot. I followed the typical good ideas- car off, interior lights on to show occupants, keys on the dash, ID in hand, etc. He came over like and ***hole telling me everything that I had done wrong, which was "hauled a** out of that parking lot, failure to signal, swerving and driving unsafely." I let it go because none of those things happened. He went on to ask if I had been drinking. I said yes, but very little and that I was the DD. He went from a lat out jerkoff to epic A-hole and yelled at me to get out of the car. NOW. Place my hands on the trunk, yada yada, generally being a huge a-hole. Eventually asks if I'll blow. Meanwhile, I've attracted a crowd outside the bar because of the lights and him wanting to make a statement. Lovely. I happily comply, blow a .01. He makes me blow again, .00 this time. Tells me I'm slurring. Blow again, .01. bishez about how it isn't calibrated and told me I need to do his other sobriety tests. I decline and start to argue with him (politely) since there isn't anything for him to hold me with anymore. Offer to show him my credit card receipt for my 2 beers, he continues being a jerk. A second patrol car shows up, makes the first officer back off and leave me alone. No apology, no good night, sir, nothing.
Had a good time and some laughs about it when we got back to the house.

Granted, he was keeping the city safe by not letting a drunk on the road, but I bet a bunch of other folks squeaked by that night because his pompous a** was preoccupied with a damn near sober driver for about 45 minutes.

After he stop me, he was in his patrol car for about 10 minutes. I was stop 2 blocks from my house. I was just going to Burger King to buy some dinner. Well it turned out to be a pricey dinner. I have only been stop 3 times in my driving life (not considering the 4 other times, I got stop in Mexico, money is the key to get out of an "infraction") and this is the only one who gave me a "ticket". I hope next time I get stop to be a nicer officer.

At 18 I was stopped for going 56 in a 40. My car was a 1993 4 door Chevy Cavalier with an automatic and I had just turned on the street I was supposedly going 56mph on. It was a bike officer and it was raining he made me pull over under a bank ATM awning while he wrote the ticket. I refused to sign it so he tossed it into my car.

I went to court he was not in the court room. Clerk comes in and sends 5 people to another court room and just me to a 2nd court room. I come into the second court room and its me, the officer was already there and the court staff. I still argued my case the judge sided with the officer and I paid my fine. It was complete BS!

But then I think about all the times I deserved a ticket and didn't get one and I think I'm ahead.

Annoying but no where near as bad as the people who cut corners because they take turns to fast and then glare at you for being in your way.
