shuold be at like 120 or so stock right? with at most a 20% power loss through the wheels. torque is good number though

thats still not right. loss in drive train shouldnt lower it that much.

Take your numbers and add on 18-20% and thats what should be at flywheel and those numbers would still be low i think

hmm, how about checking your compression, do your car run good? Those are also factors here.

Im guessing dyno problems cause that doesnt sound right at all. Either that or your transmission/clutch has issues...

I know i lose alot of power to my almost gone clutch sometimes.

a mustang dyno usually puts out #'s lower than a say a superflow.

for example: from SHO OFF on our http://www.winnipegheights.com/forums

Well here is the low down story. Got my 03 cobra, got it dyno'd stock on a superflow dyno(Motion Performance). Made 370 RWHP 364 RWTQ. Same day, added Steeda CAI and Catback. Made 410 RWHP and 379 RWTQ. That was at like 1300 Kms.

Went to Wall's in town with a Mustang Dyno which also does 1/4 mile runs. I went there at around 5500 Km's to see what numbers I would put out on another dyno and to test my 1/4 mile runs, before I hit the actual drag strip. Results, below...

327@6200rpm RWHP and 310@4100rpm RWTQ. Now I was really thinking wow, I lost almost 100 RWHP after break in. Hmm... another pull it did 332@6200 rpm RWHP and 326@4300rpm RWTQ.

So I went back that same nite to Motion Performance after dyno'ing mid afternoon at Walls. I said nothing about having my car dyno'd elsewhere until after the runs were made. I asked questions about all the value's being used and even used an under hood temp gauge which read ambient temps of 93 deg F. I put down 422@6400rpm RWHP and 403@4300rpm RWTQ. They said those numbers were very nice. I asked them what they thought I would run at the strip on saturday when I was going. They told me Probably mid to high 12s at 113+ mph.

How's your timing? And definitely check your compression.

seva-s13 means to check the compression in each cylinder. It is worth the few minutes of effort just to rule that out as a possible problem

relieve gas pressure

unplug the wire and unscrew the spark plug

stick in the vaccum gauge

depress the gas pedal all the way down

crack the engine and record highest gauge indication.

Repeat for all cylinders

From the factory Service Manual for a S14

Standard: 179psiMinimum: 151psidifference btwn cyls: 14 psi

EDIT: if compression is low. trying adding few drops of oil and check again. If compression is alright after the oil drop its your piston ring.

If compression continues to stay low... maybe valve is sticking

If compression continues to stay low in two cyls that are next to each other.. check your head gasket

I would check your timing. THe numbers may be right on, but dyno error, obviously.

A dyno is a tuning device and not much more. You shouldn't be concerned with the numbers it gives you other than if it shows that power has improved from the previous dyno session under similar conditions.

Does your car feel stronger than it did before?

We have a brand new Dynojet. The heat has a major effect on runs. The dyno is only a few months old.

I dynoe'd my stock SOHC. I got 119 and 137. It was on a dyno jet also. 4th gear pull. aprox 160k on the motor. That does seem low, especially if you have things done to it.

we have had a large amount of runs with no discrepensies. It is puzzling why it is so low though. I dont remember the run specifically, I would definitly do a compression check.

Know anyone with a CONSULT handheld? Small things such as your coolant temp sensor can result in 5+ HP loss.

Just a thought...

edit:: note sure if a faulty CTS would throw a code or not...

there isnt no discrepensie, i merely asked my piers here if that sounded right, i dont know ive never had a dyno before, besides it all comes down to the cheap clutch thats in the car now, theres no need for a cylinder check due to the motor being new, now how do i post a pic in here lol
