Hi all

My son and i picked up our first 300 ZX on Saturday. But i would like to get all the fluids changed out.

What fluids are the most important to start with, silly question probably but i am new to manual transmission maintenance.

Its a 1992, 5 speed manual transmission, non turbo

I just read on the forum that Redline MT-90 for the transmission

Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

I'd recommend the following:

A complete flush of the coolant system. Half distilled water, half coolant. Flush it with distilled water (cheaper to flush with) till it runs clean, then add your coolant.
Redline MT-90 is an excellent fluid, I use it my transmission and it's excellent.
The rear diff takes 75W-90, and Redline also makes an excellent fluid for that.
I'd also bleed out all the brakes and clutch. ATE TYP-200 is an excellent fluid for both.

Oil changes I'd suggest a quality synthetic and a Purolator PureONE filter. There are other options for filter, but I'd steer clear of Frams, STP, and other base level filters. Be good to your car and she'll be good to you both :)

For a clever method of filling the diff and transmission, check this out

It only works if you have an air compressor though, otherwise you need a long, long funnel or a suction pump

The NAs, if taken care of and treated well will live well past 200k, not sure if there are any 300k+ NAs out there but there are guys running well into the 200s doing double duty (daily driving and events)

I know of at least one 250K+ TT on original everything. One is stock, the other is stage III.
