Heh, I'm trying not to sticker up my car.. otherwise I'd have a ton..K&N, AGX, Eibach, a few from places I bought stuff at, ...

It's like I'd like to give credit to what I've got, but at the same time stickers often look tacky.. esp if you have a bunch, unless its like a race car painted and stickered accordingly, but my car's paint is all fubar anyways.. I think someone before I owned it said "gotta get Maaco"..

Made tons of progress on L motor

Well, I forgot to get pictures of removing the pully, I was too tired.. in order to get the huge 5 ton puller on we had to dremel-sand down the edges of the pully between the innermost and center belt sections so that it could get through at an angle...

also at that time got a bunch of the oil/water fittings for the turbo etc off, and the pistons out

that was ... wednesday night?

then that night while taking friend home smelled fuel.. uh ohpopped hood at his place, the fuel line hose I had bought at the auto parts place (forget which) apparently isn't spec'd for high pressure EFI duty.. and was bursting and the clamps I had were not proper..

luckilly he had some spare high pressure hose and proper clamps, we fixed that up, but it was like 4am in the rain.. ugh

tonight we got alot done, got the main bearing caps and the girdle off, and a few other things..

..and got the god damned timing belt pully/gear off!!!had to cut it up w/ dremel from two sides and then beat the @#! out of it with a screwdriver and hammer (actually, started on one side, then my friend Josh (helping friend #2) said "Hey, why don't we cut it where the key is, so we don't have to cut as far?" and we more or less said 'DOH!', spun it around and attacked that side.. the key helped protect the crank while we went at it with the dremel and were able to get far enough in that some proper beating with the hammer and screwdriver popped the sucker..

at that point pulling the oil pump off, the crank out, and the bearings out was easy.

about this time we went hey, why do we still have the water pump here? and took it off.

haven't figured out yet how to get the oil filter mount off yet..

anyhow..

my first timing belt gear cherry:

near-empty bottom end:

about all thats left now is the oil piston squirters, the oil filter mount, possibly that one big stud on the front (forget what goes on there, its that 4" or so sticking out one), the water inlet...

then its ready to go off and be tanked and bored out, etc !

the oil was horrible death evil incarnate black, the sort that would make blackholes stand out O.o but in some ways the pics make it look worse and in others better, mediocre camera and absolutely horrible lighting.

the oil filter mount has 4 bolts and then should just pull off... it has a paper gasket that hardens so that might be holding it on, but just whack at it with something and it pops off:)

I mean, no fancy tricks just unbolt them?

a friend of mine mentioned on some engines he'd think (I think mazdas?) you had to drill them out and replace them or something destructive like that..

Joe's old HT SS showed up back on monday, due to various reasons (power outage, hanging out w/ friends, etc) haven't actually gotten around to taking pics till earlier today.

I should have another update I hope later since getting the oil filter mount and oil squirters off shouldn't be too much of an ordeal..

for now, the HT SS downpipe I got from Joe, with the usual bad lighting:

ALRIGHT!!!

Got L motor block completely stripped and boxed so its easily storable/transportable, R motor almost but ran outta boxes (need one for crank and one for block)...

my (plastic) 'crate' engine, L:

R (look closely and you'll see I got the damn belt gear **** off):

side by side (L is in the bottom right plastic box):

....Now, wondering still if I should be taking the water inlets off?

Also, do I have to worry about this little ball gizmo under the oil mount when I have the motors tanked?:

man i feel bad now, and kinda worried i didnt completely disasemble my motor at all, i left the oil squiters in the oil filter block on, the crank and mains on. everything least the motor builder is good at not breaking or loosing parts

I made sure to get the squiters cause someone in the past few months had their shop lose them (luckilly they found them again)..

so what about the water inlet pipe? somehow break off, or not worry about it?

I have taken the water inlet before, it is glued in , you need to get a hammer and gently hammer it out side to side at the same time try to pull it out, it will come out, it isn't that bad.

Do you mean hammer one side straight on, then the other, repeat, or at an angle, such that the force of the blow would try to pull it away from the block as well as knock it loose?
