Car went into the body shop three weeks ago for some repair work after an accident, they were supposed to replace the passenger side fender, the bumper, and do some painting, as well as check out the suspension, re-allign the car, and go over it to make sure everything was fixed (I went with the body shop my insurance primarily deals with.) After three weeks for a job quoted at 5 days (not that big a deal, kind of expected it,) I get my car back, the bumper and fender don't line up well at all, looks like rather than getting hit by another car I was hit by a golf cart =P

Didn't bother me THAT much, figured I could always get everything alligned properly whenever I get around to the s13.5 conversion, so I paid my deductible and started driving home. The car now has 30 miles more on the odometer than when they took it in, thats before I even drove home, the allignment is still effed, the power steering doesn't feel right, the steering's not centering correctly and its insanely hard to turn the wheel all the way to one side or the other.

Also somewhere in those 30 miles the car developed a pissed of diesel sound...something like "woops a technician put a screwdriver in my timing chain as a joke." And just to top things off the paint work they did is shotty too, its pitted all over the bumper with random orange spots on a red paint job =P Sorry just had to vent, I talked to the manager, I think he'll take care of me, but if the shop goes over the damage again and decides it'll be more than $1000 from insurance to fix it, they'll total the car, which I'll just end up buying back, stripping, and selling, buuuuut I go back to school on the other side of the state on Saturday, so the timing is gonna screw me over a bit =P Guess we'll see what happens, hoping for the best ;)

if they screwed up the repairs, they have to pay for it not your insurance.

You know, I almost went through something similar...I was going to take my car to a "collision" shop...One that primarily does inusrance and dealer work, and what I found is that they just do not do great work. I ended up with a shop that does MORE custom work than inusrance work. I figure that was a good measure of what they PREFER to do (Plus, I saw a bunch of older hotrods in their shop...I figured, if old men with hotrods were willing to let these guys work on their car, why not me?).

So far...its in another shop having the alignment done and two strut rods replaced...the tough part is that I'm not sure if I'll get the car back tomorrow or the day after, sooo I'm not sure if I'll be able to find a place to do the rattle of death job in time, the car HAS to be ready saturday, or I'm going to school with no car, and my pops is gonna make me take his 99 auto maxima whenever he can get it up to me at school =/
