I finally finished. I pulled off an incredible amount of 'stuff'. It must weigh over 200 lbs. Took me ten hours. Here are some photos. I still haven't had a chance to drive it yet though. Or even lower it and look at for that matter. Oh well, I'm relieved its over.

Just looking at those pictures gives me the shivers...:D

You did that in 10 hours? That's pretty impressive! Took me the better part of a day the first time I did it and that was on a lift with power tools! Now I can do it in a little over a three hours but never again, I wouldn't wish an active conversion upon my worst enemy! Great job!

Thanks, I found many of your past posts quite helpful on the subject. The funny thing is after everything is off, it takes all of 15 minutes to install the new towers.

Stephen - Sorry to hijack, but do you still have the antenna motor from your Q? :)

I do Greg, but I just don't know if it works or not. I didn't have a chance to test it before I started gutting the car. It didn't have a faceplate on the headunit, so I couldn't try anything.

Where is the crank pulley and ps pump and ecu and idler and belts and all the other things that a COMPLETE conversion entails.

In have a standard p/s pump and the active ecu works fine. The brain of the active suspension is in the back where the controller is. Just remove and no more active suspension.

Stephen, I may be in need of a couple parts from you. Are you selling any of the parts you removed?

I should know which parts within the next couple days.

I can't comprehend how that can be done in 3 hours. That's frickin' amazing.

The car has a recent ps pump, so I'm keeping that. I don't know how necessary swapping the other parts is. If it works like it is, that's good enough for me. It cost me $685 for Eibachs, Tokicos and bump stops/dust shields. Just slightly under the $6500 that the dealer quoted me.

Well, actually redmanfx has the rights to pretty much everything. You may have a crack at the leftovers if there is something that he doesn't want shipped.

Dr Q - Impressive! Not to get too off topic but how do you like your SVX? I've always have loved this car. I hear the transmissions & wheel bearings are the things to watch out for. But you SVXers reallly seem to LOVE your carsl. What is it about the SVX that is so special as far as driving is concerned? I know with our Q, it moves down the road in a manner that I cannot quite describe. It feels really luxurious/delicous/rich for lack of better terms. If the 1st Gen Q was a cigar, it would be a Padron Anniversario Excluivo. Any of you cigar smokers will know what I mean! Or it's like a really premium Belguim dark chocolate.

First off, good job! Secondly, I was quoted $6500 to get my active suspension going again from the dealer as well. $7,500 for some extras. How about that! Third, I have to do the same to remove my bad parts and replace with good recharged units, so I figure I'll be double on your time. Ouch!! That sucks... Oh well.. Why can't I live close to T-3??

I'll do it myself to save $4,500.

You should to be able to do it in less time than me. I spent at least half of the ten hours removing those high pressure lines. What a PITA.

I ended up sending two boxes to redmanfx weighing in at 161 lbs. There is still a bunch of worthless stuff sitting in my driveway that will be going in the garbage. Probably around 40-50 lbs. Plus the fluid, we're looking at about 210 lbs total. Standard suspension weighed in at 65 lbs. Difference is 145 lbs. I thought I read somewhere that the actsus option added 143 lbs. to the vehicle weight, so that seems about right. I kind of feel bad about tearing it all out. Oh well, I'll be fine with the Tokicos and Eibachs.

Well, after drving on the new suspension for about 250 miles, I would grade it as follows:

RIDE - AHANDLING - ASTANCE - A+

It's easily the best riding and handling lowered vehicle I have driven. I took a tight 25 loop at 60 and it felt like there was plenty more. And the lowered stance couldn't look any better IMHO. It does feel just a tad soft in the rear, but all in all, I would have to say that I am extremely pleased with the outcome of this endeavor. And I also shed about 150 lbs.;)

My setup was $685 from Joe with the springs/struts/bumpstops. I already had the top spring mounts from my parts car. That's all you need. If you are leaving the active components in place, it only takes an hour or two. Just like replacing the towers on a normal car.

I'm not sure who "Joe" is, although I see his name here in the forum a lot. If he is from Infinitiusa, the Tokico kit is now up to $1250 and the non Tokico kit is $1300. If this is not who he is, could someone tell me how to contact him. Are all Tokico's to lower the car? Also, what about the PS pump. Is the stock one OK? Thanks in advance to all who respond and please don't hesitate to give me any advice/opinions.

Joe is who you think he is. Tokicos (shock absorbers) don't set suspension height; springs do. Eibachs lower from stock, thus changing OEM geometry.

PS pump can be looped back to itself if not replaced with non-active pump. 1994 and earlier t models had a 15.1/1 ratio where later steering racks had a 17/1 ratio.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

I hope some of you conversion wizards are still reading this thread. How does one go about looping the PS pump back on itself. Whats the difference between a "full" conversion that Q45tech talks about and a minimal conversion that Dr.Q and Qship talk about. Lay it on me, and pull no punches.

Dr Q-

How did you rate your car when the active was working to spec?

Just curious.
