Now that i see the 275/35/18's on the rims, I think they are too short. I will go with 40 series tires next.

I love the extra lip depth overthe 8" fronts.

Interesting.....

TR says they are a little short, and load rating varies between 87-95. Minimum recommended wheel width is 9", with most measured at 10", maximum at 11".

How much do the wheels weigh?

Too wide for the front?

Looks beefy! I think it's not that the tires are too short, but the car is too high.

So what's the final specs on those wheels? Offset front/rear. Same all the way around?

I just got my 350Z wheels on last Saturday and I love the offsets. 7.5" front +30mm offset, 8" rear +33mm offset. I just have to keep looking outside at it. Amazing how much better it looks than with the pie pans.

That's a whole lotta tire, Jeff!

I've always loved the look of truly wide tires on a car. Nice to know we can squeeze a 275 in there. How about the ride on the 35s, though? I know you're primarily a freeway driver. I could tolerate a harsher ride in town, but I'm not all that fond of being able to feel every expansion joint on long highway drives.

And those wheels are an excellent choice. They must look even better in person.

Jeff-Then God said, "Let there be lip!" . They look absolutely awesome. In my opinion, I dont think that you need to lower it. It has a very strong stance.

Qsiguy-I really like the 350Z wheels on your ride. They definitely add a modern look to the car. I also think that the wheel color compliments the color of the car. I agree with you when you said that you can't keep your eyes off of it. Great job, they look amazing.

I think everybody should post pics of their wheels on the wheel sticky (I think there is a such thing). It will be a thread that I will frequent like a million times a day!

Jeff those wheels little real nice.

Fat tires on the Q are so attractive. Still elegant with a aggressive stance.

Love the wheels Jeff! You have excellent taste .

Are those the ASA AR1? 18x8 +35mm offset with 245/40-18 what tire in the front?18x9 +45mm offset with 275/35-18 Continental ContiSportContact

If you go for a 40 series tire next, are you thinking of a 255 40 18 or something else?

I would love to see a pic from the back showing both tires if possible

Thanks

The fronts are the 18 x 8 with a 35 MM offset, and the rears are the 18 x 9 with a 45 MM offset.

I had 245/40/18 on the car when they were all 18 x 8, but the ride was too harsh for my tastes. I went back with 245/45/18 all the way around (They are too big, but no rubbing).

When I got the new rears (from eBay), I went to the 275/35/18 to get back close to the OEM diameter. Now the fronts show more tire sidewall than the backs. I wanted to get the Continental ContiSports to match what I have on the front. The max load rating is 1,521# I couldn't find a number rating.

I am still very happy with the ride, sound, and wet weather handling of the Continentals. They are prices, at $200 a piece, but much better than the Sumitomos or Fuzions I had.

The ride is fine on the back. My next set will be 275/40/18, like I have on the Corvette. These should fit fine. There seems to be adequate clearance for a little taller tire, and it will fit the fender well better, in my opinion.

I have the Cali Custom springs in the box, just waiting to go on. I need to build some more strut bars first, though. I have a bunch of people wanting them.

Jeff,

The car looks sweet with those. Do you think you'll have any rubbing issues with the CCs or will the 45 offset take care of it? Time to tint the windows now man... not too dark... just enough to add mystery.

...Drew...

Thanks for all the info and the pics. I'm dying for a new set of wheels and just haven't made up my mind yet on what I want. But your pics have helped me visualize better.

That would be 95.

9" is too narow in that profile. But 10" at the correct offset will fit.

How heavy are those 18x9?

the approved width is 9.5-11... WE do know that 275-40s fit decently on a 8.5in wheel without too much trouble, so i dont see why a 285-35 wouldnt fit..

jeff once you get the camber adjusted with the cali customs on, let us know how much room you have. I wanna see some nasty tires on the back!!

285 on an 8.5" wheel would look completely retarded, not to mention insane tire flex under cornering. I have 245 on 8" front and that's too wide as it is, 235 would have been better. But to each their own.

I was suggesting it on a 9in wheel... 285 I agree (especially a 35series) is way too much tire for an 8.5in wheel...

I added my 2 MM spacers all the way around, to have more clearance on the front rotors, and now the car is tracking with 4 MM more width.

Wider is better!

Go to http://www.tirerack.com

The ASA AR1 wheels are on the first page, once you pick the car, then goe to wheels.

I have the 18" x 8" with the 35 MM offset on the front, and the 18" x 9" with the 45 MM offset on the rear.

I bought a new set of Continental ContiSport 245/45/18 a while back. They are a little too tall for the Q, but fit the car fine. I used to have 8" wide wheels all the way around, so I could rotate. When Evie spacked the storm sewer and ruined one wheel, I decided to get 9" wide rims for the rear. I bought a 275/35/18 rear tire, which matches the OEM size and load rating, but look a little small on the rear of the car (short sidewall). I will up-size to 275/40/18 the next time I buy tires.

Your best bet, is to get Tire Rack to mount and balance the tires for you. I was going to go with the BFG's if I didn't have the Continentals already. The BFG's are cheaper, and I haven't tried them yet.

Don't go with any uni-directional tread patterns, because they are all noisy (maybe not at first, but give them a few thousand miles). The BFG's are unidirectional, but look like they would not feather as bad as the others.

Be sure to get tuner lugs, because the standard lugs barely fit in the wheels, and most tire shops will scratch the wheels installing them. I keep a 1/2" ratchet, extension, and deep well socket in the trunk for flat repairs. The OEM lug wrench will not work on these wheels. Most tuner lug nuts come with a key, that is hardened steel, and will fit in the smaller lug openings of these wheels.
