So my TV is a 5 year old 46" Sharp Aquos which is a sick display but weak sauce compared to today's standards. I decided to upgrade to the new Samsung UN55D8000 LED 3D TV. I gotta say this thing is phenomenal. It's network capable and there's even a iPhone/iPad app and IP interface for your web browser. So far I've watched Resident Evil: Afterlife and Tron Legacy in 3D. I also just finished KillZone 3 for the PS3 which is also in 3D. All I can say is BADASS!

Since I've got a new display it was time to upgrade my A/V Receiver. I've always been a huge fan of Yahama and my last pioneer had a serious defect that forced me to change the setting every time I turned it on so the amp would be configured for bi-amped front speakers. It was a huge PITA. So I decided to try out their new Aventage 1000 and I'm really impressed.

Now I needed a new equipment rack for all the new stuff. I like to consider myself pretty handy and decided to build my own furniture. I'm used to building industrial military grade stuff so this was a new adventure into home furnishings. I built a 42" tall cabinet with 3 openings. The left and right openings have EIA rack rails and the center has 3 adjustable shelves. On the left side I've got 3 pull-out rack mount drawers for DVD's, controllers, 3D glasses and whatever needs to be stashed. The right side has all of my equipment on custom made rack mount shelves. All 3 sections have glass doors with touch latches so there aren't any visible handles. I'll provide pics later. I've been told that I could probably sell it for serious $$$ if I wanted to.
Last but not least. I'm throwing this massive team event for my CrossFit gym and needed to get a DJ. I used to spin vinyl and CD's back in the day and wouldn't mind doing it myself. So I invested in some serious gear for a small audience (200-300). I picked up a Numark NS6 DJ controller and B-52 Matrix 1000 v2 self contained speaker system. It took me about 4 hours to figure out the controller and it's incredible. I called up one of my buddies who DJ's every weekend and he test drove it and was stoked as well. Guitar Center got their first shipment of these a day after I received mine. I set everything up and the speaker system is just crazy. Sound quality is top notch even at high volumes and there's way more headroom then I need.

I deal with pro-quality electronics every day so I was able to get all of that stuff @ wholesale. I'm really stoked right now and finally feel somewhat complete walking into my pad. I'll post up some real pics of the stuff in action soon.
