Well I totalled my car tonight. I slid on the slick road at about 50. It wasa a sharp 40 degree angle sweping turn. I slid right then left and caught it. As i caught it i was lined up with some trees. Lock the brakes up. Didn't do any good on a frozen road. Hit the trees at about 40. The trees were anly about 2-3 inch in diameter, but they still tore the car apart. The frame is bent. The car is totaled. I'm ok. Here is a pic. I probably will be parting out the car. I'll start a new thread in the buy/sell/trade. Nick

It's because of the wet/cold surface and lack of experience. I almost got into accident earlier too and my car would've looked worse than that if there were any cars behind me. At least you're okay, though.

I loved this car I did all the work I just started to buy parts for my turbo install this winter. I had liability so I won't get anything for a totaled car. Start from point zero again.

I caught the car but when i did it was too late due to the speed and conditions. About 3 feet to the left was a 2 foot diameter tree. I guess in the end i was lucky. The accident happened 400 feet from the indiana border in michigan. I crossed the lane of traffic when i started to slide lucky there where no cars and I didn't injure anyone but my poor car. The speed limit was 45 untill you got to the turn then it went down to 30 or 35. Dam that suck loosing a car you spent all this time on. Nick

I was about to put the car up for the winter this week due to the bad tires but, this happened. I was planning on buying rims and installing a turbo kit this winter. Now I am looking for another car. Nick

Well I'm looking for a 95-99 maxima 5-speed. I might start pulling parts off coming spring because its cold outside. I don't want to freeze. Nick

I'm sorry to see one go like that....but just wondering...why do you guys mess with curves in the rain? I don't even cut corners at 35 when taking a curve when wet. Am I just a wuzzy or is it common sense? Don't think i'm patronizing you...I just don't know if there's something wrong with me.

Well it was frost on the road. When i went out to the road to look there where only 5 or so tracks trhrough the road. I just wasn't expecting for the back end to come out. I held it but i straitened out and i was pointing at a tree.

I do have a 89 but i just don't know if i want to go through all the work. I may swap the KA24DE in and the suspension and diff. Also i might sell the car with everything to make up for my losses. Nick

sorry about your car. I've been sliding my car lately and i agree...its been kinda bad in the midwest. But i've been practicing in complete safe and wide roads....where i give myself a huge margin of error. If you're gonna part your car, let me know..cuz i'm looking for some sportlines rite now....payce

Wow that really sucks man, im glad your alright...

After seeing my freind lose control and slam his car into a concrete wall because of dry rotted tires (on a dry road) i will never let myself or anyone i love use dry rotted tires. No offense but saying "i was going to..." doesnt mean anything, ever time you get into a car with dry rotted tires you are playing a very dangerous game of russian roulette.

Live and learn :)

I was on gumwood just before you got to redfield road. It was just past the indiana state line by 400 or so feet. I was heading back to indiana. It was the first long sweeping curve. I still have a 240 i just don't know if I want to go through all the work again. I lost it coming out of the turn where the car gets light, bald tires and slick road didn't help. I just wasn't expecting my back end to come out like that. I corrected it but it was too late.

Man glad your ok. My back tires are bald as well, but we havn't had bad road conditions down here. I would definatly put all the parts into another 240 if I were you, but a 95 maxima would be a fun car to have as well. Not to mention the comfort. Good luck with what ever you do.

the ka24de swap in your 89 would be a good thing to do, if nothing else, swap the de into the 89 and then sell that car wtih all te parts and part out the 92.

 Nick Im glad you are okay, thats the most important thing. It does REALLY suck that the car is totaled though. I remember seeing it at the meet in Indy, very clean. Best of luck with whatever you chose to do with it or if you decide to get a Max.
