the engines both have great things going for them, but all you have to do is bring up crankwalk and the cars sold here being built in the mid-west. (Prior to the EVO release in America)

I used to have a '97 GST, the motors are awesome, they take a beating, and hold 5 quarts of oil from the factory.

Thats a pride and opinion arguement. And who really cares? Wutever floats ur boat i say. I think both are great motors with thie pros/cons. When u argue with him again, tell him to go do some 6krpm launches till the car won't move anymore.

Are we talking about the 4G63 in the EVOs? From personal experience, they are pretty powerful (Previous EVO I owner). More HP and Torque stock than an SR. They do get noisy lifters though @ around 100k+. As for the 4G63 in any other car....Galants, etc.....not sure.

I love SRs too, so dont get me wrong.

From what I've seen, the 4G63 is a pretty decent motor. It's more than proven that it can make wicked power. I've got respect for it. However, whenever something develops into "X is better than Y" or "X vs. Y", it almost always becomes an issue of subjectivity. The fact is, both the SR20DET and the 4G63 are 2.0L turbo four bangers which are capable of great things. Both have plusses, and both have negatives. Arguing about really won't solve anything. That's my $0.02 (and I am expecting change back ).
