Purchased my first import car 2 months ago. Its a 1990 Q45. Crimson red (i believe thats what the colors called!) 151,000 miles and it runs/performs to me like a new car. Im coming from a 1994 cougar to this, and it feels like a hellavu nice car. Everything in the car works as well which impressed me greatly. But my dumbass went to hit the sunroof button and i broke the little tabs holding it in, it still works though. Only problem i see on the car is i cant manually move the shift lever down past the "3" position. it wont budge. If i WOT at a stoplight it qwikly goes down into first, so i know 1st works, any ideas?

Upgrades so far.cut out all 3 mufflers and ran 2 1/4 pipes from the cats back into a flowmaster 50 series ended with a borsal resonated dual tip.

also tore out the tweaked out Bose system and added an Alpine cde-9843 head unit, pioneer 6x9's and 4" up front. Fosgate 4002, 1200 watt 2 channel with fosgate P2 12's in the trunk.

heres some pics, sorry if they are to big im new at the camera stuff!Glad i found this site as all the members seem well rounded and mature.Any people in the kansas area into Q's let me know, we can meet up and terrorize the town!

oh 1 picture shows where my retarded self brushed against a pole in a drive-thru! DOH!

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

and a audio clip of the exhausthttp://www.z-mation.com/DucksStuff/qexhaust.MPG

Might take here to the track tonight, and smoke my buddies 67 Coronet 383 1 more time! itd be cool if i could get it into first manually though. Take Care,CQ

Hey crimsonq the car looks great, glad your having fun with it. I took the liberty of photoshopping your images and sent them to your yahoo e-mail. the new ones are about 400 pixels wide. You may want to take these off and replace them with the smaller ones. Too much scrolling. BTW, like the subs!!!

On your digicam you need to find the setting that reduces the size of the image on it. You'll notice you can fit a lot more pics on the memory card. It is currently set up to take a high-resolution picture printed on a 8x10 photo sheet. Who really does that? Set it for 1024x760 or even a little smaller and you'll be happy with the results. Remember how you did it in case you ever want to change it back for a big portrait (maybe of your Q).

Congratulations on the Q! Welcome to NICO. That color looks great!

On your exhaust mod, did you put a crossover pipe back in, or is it straight to the rear muffler? Is that muffler a dual-in single-out, or single-in single-out? How does the sound level compare to the original exhaust? Any noticeable power gains?

My father lives in Overland Park, Kansas.

no straight pipes from the cats back into a flowmaster 50 series dual in/ single 3 " out . Technically its their Truck/SUV muffler

The sound level has much increased, i couldnt stand having a silent v8! Listen to my audio clip

as far as power gains im not sure, i feel a seat of the pants gain, but asfar as real world, i doubt any more than a few horses. It dies seem to breathe alot better on the top end. Total cost of exhaust was 250

Thanks. Get a sound clip of you driving around with the recorder in the car. Maybe get a clip at highway speeds and some in-town riding. I am concerend about the resonance at 2500 RPM. I want the car to be a little louder, flow a little freer, but not deafening while commuting to work and back.

I have thought about replacing the cat-back exhaust with 2.5" tubingan x-pipe, 2 small Magnaflow resonators, and a magnaflow dual-in / dual-out. I have also considered removing the pre-cats. They seem to be a source for high restriction, being that close to the cylinders. The JDM engines come with exhaust manifolds without the pre-cats, but I am not sure if they will clear the right hand drive steering components.

AZhitman was working on a cat-back exhaust similar to what I am considering. Rsiwicki has a custom header set-up on his Q. Of course he spent a lot of money getting them fabricated.

ill get those clips for ya, as far as deafining sound, no way. Its best sound actually comes from 2500-3200 range i think, best way to put it is, my buddy drove it around my block and it sounded the same as a 4.6 cobra driving around, just a step quieter.. maybe to much for some, but I like things loud. I cant even hear the exhaust when im on the highway though

LOL, I guess you aren't one to carry a lot of luggage. Thats a gorgeous ride. I've seen a Q in that color only once before, looks hot!Amazing that the AMPS phone is still there.

If you're ever in St Louis or Columbia, give me a holler.

Very nice Q.. I love that color, had a Q that color (well it was the crimson pearl in 94)

Whatever the case, very nice... CLEAN install with the HU...

Exhaust sounds a little nice but it seems a little loud for my tastes, and i have a modded exhaust... Ive thought about removing my 2 pre muffs and see what that sounds like.....

I like the car... Somewhere in a junkyard around Overland Park lies my old '91 Q45 touring - it was crimson too. But that was maybe 7 - 8 years ago.

To fully enjoy the Q you need to get out from the neatly aligned streets of OP and find some good roads. I alwas liked the drive up to St. Joe's (just be very careful of speed traps!)

Welcome!

Congrats on the Q! I also came from a Cougar... mine was Currant Red (pretty much Crimson) and a 1990 model. Bucket of bolts...

I had a one year stint with a Pearl White 1991 Maxima SE 5 speed that sacraficed it's life for me when I took it sideways and backwards across a three lane interstate, into a ditch, and through a fence.

Then to Q1, and now Q2.

My mom grew up in KS about 100 miles from you on a farm near LaHarpe. I think I ate at a Wendy's in Overland park on the way back to the airport last July.

Welcome to NICO!

He will, and his wife will call the cops on you. She has already busted one crack house, and has nothing to do all day, but watch the neighborhood streets. She watches for excessive traffic, and writes down all the tag numbers of the cars that have excessive visits. They have a very active neighborhood watch program.

Don't mess with a retired woman!

I plan to visit some time this year, unless they drive down. I will look you up, when I come up.

I have a question. How did you import the car? What company was it through? I was wondering how much it was to import it because I wanted to import a Nissan President?

I'm pretty sure by "my first import" he simply meant it was his first non-domestic manufacturer car, not that he had the car imported.
