Got another SR and just wondering about some stuff.

Well I got another S13 last week. It came with an SR allready installed and Ive been noticing a few odd sounds.

Well first off I think I can hear the injectors ticking. I dont know if thats common but they sure do make alot of noise.

Also wondering what your SRs usually idle at. Mine is idleing at around 750 rpms but some times stutters and goes down to 500 rpms. Anyone have any ideas on why it does that?

might want to pull the injectors out to check the 0-rings, make sure everything is in correctly and make sure they are spraying. also for the idle check your obvious things. timing, tps voltage and your idle adjustment screw. also your iacv may need to be cleaned...got any pics of the new ride?

I am gonna check spark plugs too. I was listening closely and my car has a knocking sound to it too. Also when I started it up this morning it sounded like there was something with the starter. I dont know but it didnt sound good.

I need to get my other car up and running so that I can thear this one appart and figure out what the hell is wronge with it.

all i can tell you is your motor might crap out on you. i had my sr for 2 years and i started hearing that ticking noise from my injectors and then 2 months later my motor grenaded, it was a spun bearing

The injectors ticking is quite common actually. It's the injector pulsing, for some odd reason, nissan's are rather loud. My Ka does it everyday... Now if it starts sounding like someone is hammering on something then you're in trouble.

yeah injectors are high pitched clicks.. mine are 740s and holy **** they are loud.

Rod knocks will sound like your valvetrain is rattling. You will swear up and down its your lifeters/timing chain, etc etc... but of all the SR rod knocks Ive dealt with... they all sound like valvetrain noise until I look at the bearings.

Yeah, well I guess im definetly gonna tear this one to pieces once my other S13 is up and running. Tapped out on cash so I cant get IC couplers, belts, and a few other small things. Accouple weeks and she should run.

Ill take pics of that once its out of the garage.

I think im gonna do alittle higher compression pistons, forged rods, ported head, cams, intake mani, oil pan... and a few other things when I do the rebuild. What do you guys think?
