turbo piping removed.
turbo is gone!!
here it is, covered in liquid wrench!
exhaust manifold removed.. wait.. is that a broken stud back there?? yup..
can you tell the difference between the two?
used a tire patch to repair the stock rubber turbo inlet.
this thing is a mess. i took off the original turbo because it was bad. the coolant lines were never hooked up, the drain flange only had 1 bolt in it, the drain hose had a kink in it because someone couldnt take the time to cut it the right length  i found out that two of the studs were missing on the ex. mani. where the turbo bolts up and that the flange on the turbo was notched so bolts could be used instead of nuts on the studs. my turbo flange isnt notched nor did i feel like notching it, so this obviously posed a problem and required me to switch manifolds. switched manifolds, put the sr20 t25 and my braided lines on, had to modify the turbo outlet so i could connect the wastegate, the rubber intake pipe had a decent sized tear in it, so i used a rubber tire patch kit to fix it, had to JB-Weld the o2 sensor in the bung LOLOLOL (it works though!), there is no knock sensor hooked up yet...
got the turbo, manifold, exhaust and turbo/IC piping swapped and hooked up, changed the oil with some mobil-1 10w30 and it still smokes like a mutha. its making light rod or wristpin noises.. the newer turbo def. pulls harder and it was running about 5 psi (if the boost gauge is hooked up properly) with a smic, which kind of sucks. blew the hotpipe off driving it up my driveway, so i put some tbolts on it.. need that bov, but i couldnt get it mounted without cutting a piece of pipe that i dont really wanna cut but i might do it tomorrow. has LOTS of blowback and under wot it created enough crankcase pressure to blow the dipstick out.
i think the smoking is oil in the exhaust from the bad turbo because it doesnt smoke as much anymore. this engine is making some bad noises in the bottom end, so i'm going to pull this motor and start rebuilding it and put my other motor in the car. lots of work!
