Its the 2.5 V6. Yeah i deffinately LOVE my 240 compared to this car, the probe is nothing more then transportation. There is like ZERO "feel" for the road compared to my 240. 240s rock!!MS180SX wrote:congrats... is that the 4-turbo (2.2l) or the V6? My first car was an 89 Mazda MX-6... which is the same thing... bad wheel hop though... makes me love my 240 so much more
ford actually makes soem good automatic trannies. if you ever have trouble with the car, im more than happy to help. im a ford tech, imagine that. a ford tech driving a nissan. ive put together many probes though, its a pretty simple car, contrary to all other fordDeadrodent wrote:i hope you got a manual cuz the gt's automatic is straight Ford status...i.e. it sucks mad donkey ballz. i have a 93 ford probe gt just sitting in my court because the torque converter blew up TWICE. i'll have to fix it at wyotech and then sell it...probably get some coilovers with the money i make
the layout of the engine (2.5l dohc ) is great but ive seen too many of them ****ed up. ive seen nothing but bad so its hard to think good things of these carsWeldingHank wrote:the probes engine is mazda manufactured. and not ALL gt's were V6. only the GT's from 93-97 were V6. all the 89-92 GT's are turbo-4's. i have owned 2 probes and have nothing but good experiences. a friend of mines 95 V6 probe just put down 250WHP at 5psi on a T3/T04 turbo with a megasquirt. the engines can reliably handle 350WHP. the mazda V6 is a well built machine.
yea, started working in shops at 15, took all 8 last spring and happened to pass em all. i hear pretty good things about wyotech. i went to a local tech school but i only went ot get my associates degree. my senior year of highschool, i only took english (i had 29 credits going into senior year) and went to votech all day. now, im all graduated and stuff. it was a two year degree but i got to test out of most the stuff. i really only went for auto trans as i knew nothing about them before i went in. i find in this line of work, you get out what you put in. i still have tons to learnDeadrodent wrote:well, i'm a chevy guy driving a nissan haha...from my experience (atleast with this probe) the auto transmission can't handle the power the engine makes...you have to drive it like a grandma otherwise you end up destroying your transmission...by the way, fatboy, you're an ASE mastertech already at 18? wtf? i'm currently going to wyotech...gonna go the BMW step route...
and on the flip side, i have seen nothing but good. the 2 probes i owned, nothing wrong with either. one is still going around with over 220K on it. all my friends with them have never had any real big problems other than normal wear items. maybe an extra alternator or 2, but alternators suck anyways.fatboy wrote:
