So I start my car, my rpms sit around 1000 maybe 1100 but then after a few moments it goes down to around 500 or 600. Sometimes when I come to a stop, it acts as if it's going to die. Also if I come to a very abrupt stop it will die. I would appreciate any help I can get.

if your an Automatic tranz then you may have a failing torque converter or transmission..the 600 rpm idle is normal range..600 to 700 rpm...the 1100 to 1000 is the warm up cycle for the engine...more info is really needed for this ..we need to know what mods ya have and what transmission ect..

Everythings stock on it.I had an automatic transmission that was slipping terribly but I'm in the middle of a 5 speed swap right now.

So...is this an old problem? Once you're done with the swap see if it still happens.

I bet it was your torque converter. The stalling out when you come to a quick stop means it's something with the transmission.

UNLESS! You were so low on fuel when you stopped quickly momentum carried the fuel away from the pump and the car stalled.

Long shot but hey it's worth a shot...AMIRITE?!

haha I hope I wasn't that low on gas and didn't know. Thanks though I guess I'll have to see what happens once the swap is complete.

Good deal. Good luck with the rest of the swap.
