Does anyone have a problem with water effecting the engine on aftermarket hoods with the slits http://www.carbon-fiber-hoods....22222

yeah same question here.. i have been looking at changing my hood... i like the slits... but yeah that means water... i know engines are sealed from water... and the factory air intake has a water catcher (as this is the point were water is most likely to get into the engine)

But prolonged exposer to water cant be good... just thinking about rust by its self...

I don't think it is a good IDEA... Do you really need that?

I don't know if I would go along with one of those, but here is something to consider.

The 4 main problems with water under the hood are:

Shorting the battery (not likely, but possible)Corroding electrical connections (I've done this, not permanent, but not fun trying to find them either).Water in intake (not really applicable here)Cracking the engine because of temperature extremes (not sure how plausible this is).

I actually spray down my engine from time to time to clean all of the dirt out. When I do so, I cover my intake (if it's not the stock one), and the battery.

I NEVER spray it while hot (warm is ok) and there is always the possibility that one of the sensor harnesses will corode and throw a code. This is usually fixed with some dielectric grease or reseating it.
