picked up a '73 CB750 today. :naughty: ive got virtually no experience on a bike, so my first couple times out on it were less than impressive, but it was pretty damn fun. good bit heavier than i expected it to be. while there are still a few bugs to work out, all it took to get it ready for a couple runs was a batterty and cleaning out the tank & carbs a bit. the drain lines seem to leak quite a bit of gas while its idling. anyone familiar with these things that would know whats goin on there?

the bikes pretty complete & in unbelievably good shape for its age. my idea so far is to keep it mostly stock with some cafe influence here & there.

so anyone have any experience with these beasts?

They solved the overheating issues in later models.
The Honda 750 four runs like most Hondas, reliably.

made some progress over the weekend. (and i only layed it over twice while working on it. )

i had saw where a few guys cleaned the rust from old tanks by way of electrolysis & figured id give it a go. no pics, but it worked surprisingly well.

while my science fair project was cooking, i tore the carbs apart again, cleaned on the jets some more & found the floats didnt work as free as i thought they should. lightly lapped the pins some with a razor & cleaned on everything a bit, which took care of the leaking vents. with it all back together & running, it seemed to idle pretty smooth & ran great

next order of business: the front brake was squeelin to be hell & id like to updrade the electronics.

heres some better pics, less the back rest, rear signals & the mirrors.

would still love to hear someone who knows these things chime in too. tips, tricks & such, or things to watch for.

damn sharp bike, man. did you do a lot of the work yourself?

love the cafe style handlebars, but i like the look of the stock seats pretty well. im hoping to find a set to drop the grips some without making the thing uncomfortable.

I did some of it myself....its pretty stock other than the bars and tail section

any sort of flat bar, clubman bars, or clip-ons are gonna make it uncomfortable....but it looks ssoooooo rad

Nice find. the CB750 was my all time favorite bike, especially with the distinctive stock quad mufflers. :bigthumb:
