It's not that old...maybe 2006...if anything try ebay or cough...the "other" way.I think you'll like itHave you tried dungeon siege as well? It get's a little boring but it's a good dungeon crawler with an experience-based skill system (the more you use a skill/weapon the better you get at it).

I played dungeon siege but never owned it.

As for Torchlight: I completed the main story quest with my Vanquisher (melee build) and started an alchemist. The alchemist is CRAZY fun.I also noticed that once you've completed the main story with ANY character, the endless dungeon unlocks for all your characters...even brand new ones. And since the fishing tends to be better there and monsters are scaled to your level, it's a good place to stock up on good fish to use in the main dungeon.

All the geek chat in here about Diablo this and Dungeon Siege that has me now wanting this game. I love the stylized look the concept art has to it, it sucked me right in. All the crazy cool stuff I've got for the 360 and I want a $20 Diablo-esque game? WTF?

I'll be waiting until after Christmas to pick it up though. Maybe Santa will get me a new netbook to play it on.

I bought it yesterday. Only gave it a quick look, tested out the controls (weird) and the only thing that I'm a little too irked at is that you only get 3 classes and they are already customized for you. All you can do is just give them a name. But it's a game that costs 20 dollars. I can't demand such pesky little details. Can I?

I feel like that's part of the reason it's so great. It's so simple that it's fun. You can just sit down anytime you want and fly through a couple of dungeons and enjoy doing it without having to put any thought into it.

You mean you can't change their appearances? Because you can customize them...with skills and spells. The skill trees are pretty varied within a given class. I mean, amongst just the Alchemist alone you can go melee, ranged, or minions oriented, then in each of those you can go armor heavy or damage heavy. Then you can choose which types of damage to focus on. You can focus on dual wielding or hitting hard with single weapons...you can build for low dps but big hits or high dps and small hits...

Changing the appearance at the beginning is pointless anyway since everyone looks the same once their armor is on (armor does look completely different for each class though).

Sorry to bump an old thread but I just picked this up from my brother.Overall it's a decent game for 20 bucks. There are a lot of bugs in the game though...mainly dealing with Skill damage. Mods fix them quite easily though. For instance Ember lightning does not give 20% weapon damage like it says...likewise with ember shock. Still like playing it though. It's very easy to just sit down and mow down some Mobs.

I'm running: a fish transmutation mod (Allows you to combine 5 fishies to get one big fish...and 5 big fishes for one giant fish.)Shock mod(Fixes skills)original enchanting modA more random map modAnd a couple others.I play Very Hard on an Alch and Hard on a a Zon (:P)

I read up about the developer and they are using this game as a training camp for a new MMO based on the Ember premise...I envision a steam-punk world with WoW gameplay...I'm frankly excited for it and given the amount of polish they were able to achieve with this game in ELEVEN MONTHS (From scratch), I expect much from them in the future.

Yeah, the mod support is definitely one of Torchlight's biggest strengths. Even if it isn't the game you want out of the box there's really nothing stopping you from MAKING it the game you want.
