As you all know, the ka in my vert died recently. Well, it turns out my birthday is on thursday, and as an early gift my dad bought me a new(used) ka 115k and it came with a 5spd already mated to it, all for $250. The guy took it out of his hatch and swapped to an RB25. He also had a zenki with a full navan kit, kouki wing, and an SR. It looked mean.

This means that I shall soon be updating swap progress

While its out replace the gaskets and some of the essentials.

You won't regret it.

My dad didn't listen to me when we swapped out a motor in another one of our cars.

Sure enough it leaked oil and then he had to go and fix it while it was in the car. A big pain in the a** considering he could have taken care of all of the gaskets in about an hour while it was out...

Hell, if you have the knowledge and the money replace the bearings and rings quick too. Never hurts!

That was what we were going to do to the old motor originally, but I have no other car to drive and college is coming up real fast. plus there are alot of other things taking up time so we figured popping a new motor in there would be the fastest way to do things. BUT, I'm not getting rid of the original motor, so when I come by some money and time I'll be slowly building it up (ka-t? ) The one we bought is in great shape, the guy said it had just been through a nice tune up; spark plug wires, plugs, et cetera are all new. It has a new starter too.

oh and I'll be turning 18

Happy Birthday! My wife's is Thursday too.

This is for all the sub-20-year-olds out there: Congratulations! The posters on this forum are by far the most well spoken, informed, knowledgable group out there. When I was 17 I was not nearly as respectful, etc. as this group is. I'm old enough to be your dad and your dad should be proud of the son he raised.

Good luck in college and good luck with the swap.

Definately replace the front/rear seals of the engine and transmission. Also new throwout bearing and pilot bushing, especially if doing a new clutch.

yea the clutch is new, so we don't have to bother. might look into the seals though

Thanks for the birthday wishes cmkelley! The way I act and my knowledge about stuff has alot to do with you guys here in the vert' forum! I can guarantee that if I had started out in 240 gen I would act alot different now. Thanks alot for the mentoring guys!
