Well a really good friend on mine who happens to be a dealer suggested I trade in my leased 2010 Altima which i'm paying $230 a month, for a 2010 G37S coupe which he can give me for $350 a month with $0 down for 39 months and that price is with tax already counted in. Should I take it or no? I know it seems like a stupid question but the problem is, is that I've only driven manual once in my life, and that was on my friend's 2002 WRX. Must say I did pretty good and only stalled about 5 times in the very beginning while actually getting the car to move, but past that point it came on to me naturally. However I am still afraid of taking the car because it just doesn't seem practical to learn driving manual on a G37S. Also another question is, lets say I kill the clutch (which is obviously inevitable), how much will it cost me for a new one and have it installed?

Yes quiet a few question, I know. But I can't let this deal down. I'm in desperate need for more power and that VQ growl, every time I close my eyes I can see that vibrant red G37S in my garage :naughty: . So yay or nay?

How many miles do you get for the 39 Months? How many Months do you have left on your current car?

You'll get used to the clutch in about a week, then you'll never want to go back. For a sporty car like this, it's the only way to go. As far as clutches go, my G37 sedan is one of the stiffer ones I've had, but it's still awesome.

I don't really have any understanding of how leasing works, so I'm not sure about the terms.

Good luck!

I may get ripped for saying this, but it really depends on where you do most of your driving. Do you drive in the city or is it hwy driving? i have owned two differeny manual vehicles and although I enjoyed both of them, city driving is awful. Depending on your use, I would choose the vehicle for you then. Also, being a banker i cannot help to think this way. why not take that $120 additional that you'd be spending and sock it away? In 39 months you will have $4680 saved up. You still have a very nice ride...

I agree. Especially when you have a 2010 already. Don't you get penalized for early lease termination? I don't lease cars so I'm not sure. But just to TImmy's point, you can save almost 5k for the 39 months and get the new model G then. Why spend the extra $ now and get a 2010 when the new model will be out in about 1.5 years?

Most everybody has focused on the financial aspects of the decision. Let me focus on the car. I have owned 2 G coupes for the last 8 yrs until 3 weeks ago when I trade my 08 G37 coupe for a 2010 FX35. These are somd of the the things you must consider switching to a G coupe: (1) Do you never carry more than 1 passenger? The G's backseat is useless unless you have a tolerant 6 yr old. (2) Do you need a real trunk? I had to think twice whether or not I had removed my golf clubs before I went grocery shopping. (3) Where do you live? I have owned at least 3 dozen cars in my lifetime and the G was the worst of all in the snow. I live on a dead end street and would have to wait for the neighbors to go in and out a few times before I could move.
Please don't get me wrong, I loved my G coupes and it took 8 years for them to wear out the welcome. But wear out their welcome they did. Is your tolerance for the limitations of a coupe as hardy as mine? Good Luck! :yesnod

oh yeah, that too...practicality. i needed a 4 door, so I got the G sedan. the useless backseat of the coupe and small trunk basically kept me from going with an Audi S5 or any other coupes. I remember my dad had a Mercedes SL and that thing was useless. When the hardtop was down, the trunk is big enough for a gym bag.

The car I currently have now is ok, the trunk is huge and sits people in the back comfortably, however I absolutely need more power. I've always wanted a coupe, and this is a one-in-a-lifetime deal. I would wait but he said he can only hold it for so long. I would like to wait for the 2011 coupe but it will probably be close to $600 if not more, to lease. This car is $350, and that's about as high as I can go right now because I have to pay off college. The back seats and the trunk do cause a concern for me, because I tend to pick people up, as well as my family and I tend to go on trips every now-and-then. But I'm very much into sports cars, and G's have been under my scope since 2008. I'm getting tired of constantly going to pick people up and drive people around as if i'm a taxi. I just wanna do me, and drive what I want, I've been fiending for a sporty car for as long as I can remember, and I just see this deal as the perfect chance.

That looks like a good price for a lease as long as you don't have to make a down payment. I would suggest a 36 month lease though so that you're not paying 9 months' registration for the dealer when you give the car back.

I just got into a new G37 lease myself. There are great lease deals going on right now.

Yeah i got the sedan. I also second what others have said about the practicalities of a coupe. My wife drives that and it's only good for hauling the two of us around. But the G is a fun car to drive though!

You might want to check out this thread on the leases from Infiniti right now:

It doesn't sound like a bad deal, but I don't know the options on the G37S or how much down you put on your current car or the amount of months left on the lease...

Personally I think you've already made up your mind ;)

car dealers can never hold the car long enough, or so they say. no matter how good of friends you are with him, you are still just a car deal the day you sign. if you have other debts, why take yourself to the max on payment? also, why lease and pay that much? my payment is less than that and I own mine (or will in 4 yrs). if you want more power, put a bolt-on accessory on your nissan (intake). its a good deal, but trust me, its not the end all be all.
