I tried out the car and test drove it. My wife tried out the interiors but didn't ride in it while test driving. I thought the feel on the road was a little bumpier than my sedan that I was replacing but nothing too bad; I feels like small bumps were more pronounced (especially at higher speeds), while the large bumps were less pronounced. After getting the car we drive across town (30+ mile trip) to the in-laws at highway speeds. My wife complained about the bumpy ride feeling like we were driving on gravel. I don't now what to do now. I am taking it back in to the dealer to check out the suspension. They filled the tires to 36 PSI which seemed odd to me as the manual says 33, that might increase the bumpiness a little. Does any one have any ideas on the subject. I'd like to keep the car but the ride needs to be softer. I'm kinda freaking out since the cost of this kind of mistake is so high.

Hmm I would definitely bring it back to the dealer for them to check it out. How long have you had it? Technically speaking 6 PSI can make a difference on how a car rides/drives but it might not be noticeable from a comfort standpoint but then again I don't know. Maybe there is something wrong with the car, the dealer should be able to help you - just remember to stay calm no matter how the conversation goes.

Let us know how it goes. You should make it priority to go back to the dealer the next chance you get.

its a nissan, not a lincoln. nissan/infiniti has long been the benchmark for sporty sedans. their suv's follow in similar footsteps. german cars jumped on the bandwagon as well. stiffer suspensions create better handling.

if she really wanted a softer car, you guys should have went with cadillac, lincoln, etc. but to be honest, the days of "land yachts" are gone. every maker has stiffened their suspensions and made it even worse with low profile tires.

bottom line: there is nothing they can do for you. wifey is just going to have to live with it, or bite the bullet and trade it in or hopefully return it.

My 14 was the same way. It was just how nissan designed the new rogue. Dropping the tire pressure down will help soften the ride.

I see that the SL can have 18 inch rims. The larger rims plus extra pressure can make quite a difference. One of the reviews mentioned the ride suffering due to larger rims. I had 42 psi in my tires from the dealer dropping them to 33 helped but unfortunately I have run flats which are likely worse then what the 18 inch rims would cause. Basically more rim equals less sidewall and therefore less cushion.

Sorry to hear that. I chose the Nissan because the ride was so much softer than the CX-5/Forester/Cherokee that I drove. If that ride is too harsh, I don't know what you will find in a modern car that is suitable.

It's all perspective. My previous car was a 12 year-old PT Cruiser. People complain about how noisy the Rogue is...but it is quieter than my previous car. Any chance you can get her in a rental for a week so that her perspective changes and the Rogue seems smoother by comparison?

Did you look at the tires you have on the rogue? I checked the ones I have and they say max psi is actually 51. On my dash the display readout does show that the low setting is 33 from factory but I think what tires you have on are a key factor. I keep mine around 41psi when running hot. It is a stiffer ride but it will make the tires last longer being properly filled. Its all pref I suppose.

We keep 40psi in our '14, and I've never noticed the ride being harsh. I think it's a better ride than the '13 Escape we dumped for the Rogue.

I took the car back and was able to get a 2015 Murano. The dealer was fairly accommodating. The price wasn't as good a deal as a Rogue but now both my wife and I are happy with the car.

Glad to here you were able to get this resolved. And did we learn our lesson? Wifey MUST go along on future test rides.

Between the 3 CUV's I considered (Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, and the Rogue), the Rogue was by far the smoothest ride with the most cushioned suspension. I also test drove a Kia Soul and a handful of other cars. If you were in the market for a CUV, I don't know that there is a better option for you outside of the American luxury brands already mentioned.

I did not test drive other cuvs and perhaps that's why I find the ride poor. Expansion joints are punishing and road noise is sometimes loud enough we have to raise voices to talk. I can say our old Mazda mpv, t100 and 4x4 tundra all ride better and quieter. I'm hoping it's just the run flats.

Glad you didn't have to go with the "different wife" option! :naughty:

Might actually be cheaper in the long run.

Hi, I searched the forums and could not find much of anything on this, so here goes.
I have a new 2015 Rogue S, with 225 65R17 Kumho Solus tires. I thought it rode well during a test drive, and some reviews say it has a good ride - however, after driving it for five or six hundred miles, I find it is really way too firm and jittery. The dealer let me drive a couple of others and they are all the same, so there is nothing "wrong" with my Rogue - but I would like to know if anyone has done anything or has advice for a new model Rogue to give it a softer ride? Change struts, springs, shocks, etc? I don't care about performance, losing a bit of cornering capability, or whatever. I just want a smoother ride on typical lower quality roads, going straight, around 35 to 50 mph... I also know tires have something to do with it buy my tires and wheel size are already ok for ride quality, changing them would be a minor issue compared to the suspension, I believe.

Hi. I do know for a fact that a couple of people on this forum had over inflated tires when their car was delivered to them and I was one of them. They had my tires at 42psi each but I'm sure you would've noticed by now since you've driven it around pretty much and checked out the "tire inflation" monitor screen.

good point but yes I have been watching the pressure and I actually have them a bit low, around 31 or 32 psi. It just seems to be a really hard suspension. This is my first new car in a decade, but when I try the "bounce test" I can hardly even push down on the suspension - if I open the door and stand in the doorway, jump down on it - the tire sidewalls flex as much as the suspension moves, which isn't much!
