my car is running on 10psi on boost,at a estimated 260hp, i want to run 14psi on it, what kind of mods should i look at gettingthe ca18det has a s14 turbo charger with full piping and a greddy front mount inter cooleri have no bov or boost controllerthere is no oil pressure gauge which i think is important

now, i am getting a tomei head gasket because i have read that if you buy a ca18det engine the first thing to go is the head gasket

also i am looking to an oil catch can too

what other recommendations do you guys suggest Boost_boy your input would be awesome

thanks

I have not seen any undue weakness in the CA gasket. Metal is of course better and you would have wanted it eventually. I have found oil delivery to be a weakpoint, I see a lot of CAs eating #1 rod bearings. Oil cooler an a set of guages would be a good investment to that end.

jdm_silvia, just like themadscientist said, there's no obvious weakness in the CA18s headgasket. It is no worse off than any of the other nissan engine's headgaskets. I would love to find the individual that started that rumor, tie him behind my car, and drag him for a little while as he apologizes for such a c*** and bull lie . You should get you a decent boost controller and add a bov if you want. But do not crank up that boost unless you have the fuel from your engine management system to support the added hot air (ie bigger injectors, remapped ecu, better AFM, etc, etc). Your car looks gorgeous as well! One last thing, please get an oil pressure gauge. you may want to keep an eye on things such as this. Congrats on the sylvia

Count me in for that one. I HATE that rumor. And I'm gonna put the stock headgasket crap to rest with this motor too. I purposely put a stock headgasket in it just to find out exactly what it would take. I hate mis-information...

the people i am buying car off are from japan and the owner is the #1 drifter in canada so i think he would know what he is talking about, and i will get it dynoed, don't assume that a s14 turbo can't produce that amount of hp, i guess people think that small turbo to make alot of hp, do alot of reseach because you can;t know everything, the people i work willl will know 10 times more than anyone in north america would know, like unlocking true hp power, this is a american perception, it needs to change

wtf. that's quite possibly the dumbest thing i've ever read! here we have some canadian who can't put together a correctly worded sentence, telling us americans are incompetent. get off your high horse buddy. 260hp on an s14 turbo isn't an amazing number. Thats like maybe 220whp. Pretty sure I can make that on my s13 SR t25g.

Bro, I will give you a chance to go in and retract that statement about tuners in North America or I or someone will lock this thread. No one here is bashing Canadian anything, so I'm with the rest of the gang in this statement just changed people's perception of you. I've given you my good graces on your car and I didn't want to chime in about your S14 turbo and your 260whp, but whomever told you that did a good salesman job. I don't think anyone is trying to be a know it all, but you're asking for a lot from a small hair dryer. But hey, I guess if the car's ecu is tuned good, got a better set of injectors and the boost cranked-up to say 18psi, it could very well be the case. I'll give you 225whp @12 psi with that turbo. If you have the stock 370cc injectors, someone could've possibly played you in exaggerating the car's power output.

Maybe you got a bit upset because someone questioned your car's ability, fine. But please keep your good credibility and retract the remark about north american tuners and how their perception needs to be changed. It makes you sound bitter towards Americans . An old american proverb states that: "loose lips, sinks ships".

There are plenty of Americans outtuning Japanese on Okinawa in their own house. Bashing a whole country as unable to tune a car is rediculous. I'm sure there are some good Mexican tuners we just have't heard about yet.
