Finally decided on getting my springs installed. I went with Eibachs.

Dealership gave me a quote of $350 to install the springs and get a alignment. Not that bad of a price, although i found another shop who would do them for $250.

Is it worth it to pay that extra $100 and have the dealership do it? VS having a privately owned shop doing it for less. Which would be the safer route?

It's your money but I would go to the shop and not the dealership. They're both using practically the same equipment and tools. The shop has a lower operation overhead thus is reflected in the install price. If you want, go to the Better Business Bureau of Idaho and check the status of both businesses. Good Luck and post up pics after the install!

Totally different car and state and date, but here's my story.

96 I30 (Japanese Luxury Maxima)

Replace Rear StrutsReplace all 4 springs with Eibachs

$60/axle. 4 wheel alignment was another $60-$70. So under $200 in total. This was about 5 years ago, but the cost shouldn't be that much higher.

You could always do it yourself, then just pay for the alignment...

yup, save urself the $100. I'd recommend driving around after lowering ur car and have the alignment the next day.

I had a shop do mine for $200 and then I got the Firestone lifetime alignment which was on sale at the time for $149.00. Some poeple bash Firestone but Ive never had a problem with them. Check it out if theres one in your area, search for reviews on the specific shop.

What's the reason behind this?

Hey neighbor....driving around is supposed to let your springs settle in after they've been installed....don't know if it's necessary but I'm sure it doesn't hurt. I waited about a week after installing them myself before getting an alignment.

What shop and dealer did you talk to?

Dennis Dillon and Auto Frame & Suspension in Garden City. Or do you think you would have time to help me with it? Do you live somewhere around Mitchell and Fairview? My bro said he see's your car all the time on his way to work.
