I'm pissed. I even tried to get an answer from my representative on why he voted for it a few days ago when it failed to pass. Unless I'm missing something I don't see any reason this law needs to stay in affect. I'm siding with the democrats on this one.

^ Agreed.

Egypt's President (prior to resigning last week) had been operating on emergency powers for thirty years. Can we throw stones when we're still dealing with the remnants of our emergency executive powers, almost ten years later?

To be fair, the provisions that remain are all things that require cooperation from the Judiciary, so there's something to be said for that.

It has very little to do with a GOP - Democratic political party thing and a lot more to do with a ruling class vs. a servant class thing. Both parties in Washington have worked very hard and quite successfully to create a ruling class and a servant class while eliminating the middle class. They are not about to give up any of their gains in power.

i dont remember democrats calling people like me who are opposed to the patriot act, not patriotic. The democrats may have voted for it, but they sure as hell didnt lead the inquisition after its passage. that being said, its cause they are democrats and make french soldiers look brave.

Obama is sure working hard to defend everything the previous administration did in court. The Democrats in Congress are working very hard to create a servant class dependent on the ruling class to provide for them.

Patriot Act was definitely one of the blunders of W that I never cared for in the least. Its an affront to liberty, and there was no excuse for it. The government HAS to work withing the confines of liberty if it is going to refer to itself as a "free nation". If it wants to employ measures like the Patriot Act, it needs to go ahead and go all in oppressive regime, or stop wideling away liberty under the guise of protectionism.

But it has to be accomplished in steps or the people won't catch on before it's too late.

This has already been done. The democrats, through the persistent application of welfare, has effectively destroyed the whole concept of family for black americans, creating a dependent class of people, wholey subservient to the ruling democrat class.

Gotta say, Stebo, that the best you can argue is that welfare prevents it from getting better, not that it makes the problem worse. This is like the gun control/crime statistics thing - we don't institute strong welfare systems unless we perceive a need for them. The above-quoted portion of your post reeks of "getting it backwards."
