Hey, Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but this was my Probe GT Turbo from about 2 years back. I had an hks ssqv bov that was malfunctioning (my buddy's just started doing the same thing). I think it was making some compressor surge, because it didn't sound like that when I first starting using it....some people loved the sound, but I knew it wasn't working right.

That was a race of me untuned at 8psi vs. my buddy's Probe GT with a 75 shot and bolt ons. The probe ran 118mph traps in the 1/4

yes sir that is the same sound the amuse supra had on it. The hks ssqv venting to atmosphere. I watched the best motoring video but i couldn't see the bov in the engine bay but i'm sure it was the HKS. Also, i do think that your BOV should be something that you should be proud of. It makes your engine very distinctive from n/a engines and the BB TURBO makes you stand out from other turbo charged engines. so i don't think it's a stupid ricer thing.

oh thats sexy. I had a RFL type H on my crx and that thing was so damn loud just a deep swoosh. I like the sound of the Greddy type S nice lil whistle to it and I just got a Blitz BOV for my rb25det. Anyone got a clip of what thats gonna sound like on a rb25det?

I saw a video a while ago, I think on eBaums World where a guy put an actually duck call whistle on his BOV and drove around revving at people. It was funny as hell.

ahh man that's one you need to find again. I'm putting on the hks ssqv on wednesday. I'm running the turbo xs type h on my rb25det venting to atmosphere. And i love the noise but it sucks major butt. I have an a$$ load of compressure surge. I know it's bad but i have no idea on how to fix it.

Well mine didn't always sound that way, it got damaged (the diaphragm) and then it started to sound that way.. it's not a good sound, it's a compressor surge sound and it is bad for the turbo..

I once attatched a Clarinet bell on my dsm BOV (on my GSR-Turbo) to test for leaks under boost. If people only knew.....lol

ok i installed the hks ssqv bov. I got wanted to take it out on the road but i busted my damn alternator belt the other day. It works off of vaccum and i have no problems with that bov. My turbo xs bov kept causing a boost leak and since i replaced it with this one big difference with the rest of the car. I still have the compressor surge but i have the whistle then the flutter after about 7-10 psi. I like it alot and i'm sure it's gonna scare off some lil civics here in san antonio. It sounds mean. I think you guys should invest in to the GREDDY TYPE RS bov. It has another valve to help fix compressor surge. listen to the sound here at http://WWW.BLOWOFFVALVES.COM it's pretty sick.

the dudes who thought the duck call was funny are the ones who look stupid, it makes the car sound like its a big POS with bad belts and what not....but only in a WRX would u see something that gay

I feel that your missing the whole point. He didnt put it on as a m4d tyt3 performance mod... it was a joke, and a joke that a lot of people thought was funny at that. I think it would be cool to put one on and rev at people for a day and have everyone look over like WTF? lol but I seriously doubt the guy kept that on his car.

when i had my rb running once night we put a crow call on the bpv and drove around all night.it was hillarious, but eventualy the fun was cut short as the call was desroyed by venting boost pressure.

Are all of you guys running atmospheric BOV on your RB's?

take all the warnings do not do it unless you know someone who can tune an safc-2. It gets pissy.

i'm converting my maf setup to blow through--totally elimate the tacky recirculation hose, and i like the idea of the filter right at the turbo....i think this will make the engine bay looking cleaner.

Any tuning involved with that? or just merely putting the maf inline with the IC piping?

as far as i know just move the maf to before the throttle, with about 8" straight 3" tube before and after the maf. no retuning necessary, but we'll se how things goes. vent the bov to atmos all you want...

yeah i will be running blowthru on my s14 when i finaly swap the damn engine in.on the other hand when i had the crow call on the car the car wouldnt idle right and liked to stall alot, solved this problem using the emanage to lock the maf idle output so it would hold an idle, and suprisingly it idled better than it ever had, even with the recirc hose on.

you are taking an AFM that was calibrated for ambient air being sucked through it and sticking it in a pressurized hot environment, tuning should be done.

from what i know the maf will calibrate it self to the change in air. until i have everything hook up, i'll let you guys know how it turn out.

how would it know the pressure had increased? how would it know the air temp had increased? Does it have a thermister to use as a reference point? I know it can be done, I have seen it many times I just think it will need to be tweaked and in the case of an RB's plastic AFM reinforced so it doesn't shatter at high boost. A couple of hose clamps should do. Definately do a writeup when you got it hummin.

"High Boost" isn't actually that high. You pump up your bike tires with far higher pressure than most motors will ever see. I really doubt you'll shatter the AFM.
