So i'm wanting to pick up one of these two for our master bedroom. I already have an Xbox in the living room, so we can watch Netflix and etc there. Both offer similar features, but the Google TV offers internet browsing and a few other things for the same price. Apple TV offers Airplay though from iOS devices, which I have two of currently, and the form factor is ridiculously small. Both offer streaming of Hulu Plus, Netflix, renting movies, and ect. Both are $99 as well.

I'm just wondering if anybody has bought or has considered buying either of them before? I really haven't found a use for them until recently, mainly for streaming Netflix and renting movies. I don't see web browsing as a necessity, as we have a PC in the bedroom and we both have tablets and smartphones. So the quality and interface between the two is the main thing i'm wondering about. And... GO.

EDIT: Now i'm considering the Roku as well, especially for the price.

They're both going to sell your information to satan, so just get whatever's cheaper.

Google is more evil than Apple, but they're the same price. Both have their benefits, I think the Google TV is a better buy feature wise, but I like the form factor of the Apple TV. I think features will probably win though, because form factor isn't THAT important...

I thought about the Roku, but I don't know anything about them really. I know they're cheaper, but I don't know if they're junk or not... :gotme

I like how Google tries to bring the whole internet to your TV. I use a $199 PC that doubles as a WMC7 DVR, but its not quick and easy to use and configure.

Roku is best for bringing web-based streams to your PC, but the Googles are feature-rich for less money.

I had planned on buying a Mac Mini or a Dell Zinio to use, but I didn't see the need to spend the extra cash, and I have enough PCs around the house as it is. Plus PCs are too darn noisy :squint:

I will take a look at the Roku though and see how it compares.

Ok, the Roku is pretty attactive. Especially since the TV in the bedroom is a 720p, so full HD isn't important and it's $60. I think I may pull the trigger on one.

I love my full HTPC. But, for $60 it's hard to argue a different option. Granted, I have a decent amount of content stored locally which rules out a lot of those other options. I'd try the Roku and see what you can tweak on it if it doesn't meet your expectations.
