I read the tire post on the RSA's. Did not think I would be needing tires so soon, but these tires are dissapointing for a OE tire sizd 245/45/18. I just got the car around three months ago and put 4000 miles on it. It started having a noise like a wheel bearing gone bad and a slight vibration between 70-80mph, having read the tire post I rotated the tires. The Pass rear wheel has a frozen lug nut, so I had to move the Pass front to the Drivers rear. Drove the car and noise is gone but now I cannot rotate the tires. What has your experience been with the Infiniti dealers with tire issues plus the frozen lug nut. The car is a 2006 with 33kmi which I purchased from the dealer with a Elite warranty and the tires were like new 85% tread. Do the Infiniti dealers send you to a Goodyear dealer. I am looking to get rid of the tires altogether. I dont feel I should have to pay out of pocket so soon for tires, I paid extra for the pre owned certification plus the tires still have a lot of tread life on them, the dealer should flip the bill. Thanks for the comments.

First off I would like to congratulate you on going with the CPO M. These cars are returned to as close to original as possible. Including the tires, which in that size are rsas. The more literature I see about this program the more I like it.

The RSA is not a bad tire if they are the correct ones. That may sound a little strange but hear me out. Goodyear has several sources and tread designs for the RSA, some are very good some are not. I don't know how to determine the difference as they both share the same markings for the most part and I do not know what the coding for their DOT numbers are.

The dealer may be willing to help you out, if they are visibly worn or noisy. I do not know what the CPO contracts and paperwork say about that. The best think I can advise you to do is call the sales manager of the selling dealer and let them know what you are experiencing. You may not need to mention you tried to fix it yourself, it might not come up in conversation. If the stud breaks when they have it they will fix it.

The dealer rotated and "road force" balanced the tires and charged me $60. They said the road force was only 9lbs and 15lbs is the max? What does that mean? The front tires are chopped on the edges but worn very even. The car is so quiet now, so for now problem solved but in 7500kmi will have to get new ones or rotate live with the noises longer. Although the dealer charged me they were very nice, even washed and vacuumed the car for no charge, if the problem was not solved I would be very pissed though.

You know I was at a fairly nice golf course in VA yesterday and saw 6 BMW 5 series sedans that all had OE RSAs on them. I actually looked at a few of the ones that showed signs of wear and they were even a little choppy on the outside.

9lbs of road force is fair not great but fair. I don't know if you would feel that but it would be more of a cause for a vibration and not as much noise. Noise is a result of wear, and a RF balance will not cure an alignment issue.

You may want to start looking for a set of tires and just nip it in the bud once and for all. You could fight the dealer on this until everyone is red in the face and frustrated but they still may not buy you tires. They may be willing to work with you if you speak with the General Manager as they are the only one with the power to help you in this situation. If you had reported this within the first week or two of ownership you would have a better chance.

It might be easier to put a small amount of cash aside over the next 7000 miles to just replace them with something better.

I just put the Goodyear RSA's on my 45. They are quieter than my last tires (Potenza's(sp)). The handling is noticeably worse. They are softer tires which makes them quieter, but without the hard sidewalls you better be careful when taking those corners fast. The only reason I got them is because I didn't have the money to spend on great tires and the dealer had them for $500 when I got my last service. We'll see how they hold up...

Eek! I hope you don't encounter any rainy weather on slippery highways where you live ... that will make the Paul Simon song "Slip slid'n away" far too real.

Well, you will find that they do last a long time - their only "quality" as far as I concerned.
