Traded my 06 M35X in on a 2018 Accord 1.5 Touring.

I know the styling isnt for everyone , i initially wasnt a major fan but it grew on me , and once I drove it and checked it out i was sold. few if anything on the market comes close to overall value. It is fully loaded and has enough power (wish it was all wheel drive but I have the Xterra for the winters here). the 2.0T has more power but the 1.5 moves good enough and the fuel economy was critical for me.

My valve cover started leaking for the 3rd time and the months of wasted time fighting with the dealer was infuriating, i didnt want to deal with this again. I think a drive shaft or bearing issue was developing, the rad was leaking (2nd Rad), after the airbag recall gong show the dash and other pieces were rattling like nothing ive seen before .I almost had to take the dealer to court to repair the dash damage they caused and told me was part of the job. My M35X only has 145000kms (90,000miles)

My main take away is the dealer network is a mess. it was horrible . I've owned all major brands aside from VW and Merc. Infiniti is a complete mess, I tried every dealer within 50 miles of my house.the techinicans seem to be poorly trained, or mass incompetence and/or part quality is a problem

Ive owned only Nissan or Infinti for 12 or so years. I dont see myself ever returning to Infiniti and likely would only consider a Nissan truck product in the future and look forward to the new Xterra if it actually arrives, I love my 2012 (my 2002 that still rolls around the neighborhood with its 2nd owner).

This forum is fantastic, the support and knowledge base is amazing. I'm having a difficult time finding an equivalent Honda forum. I'll still be lurking since I have the Xterra.
Cheers

Sorry to hear you converted to Honda. My lovely wife's best friend has a touring and it is brilliant! Just a smidge smaller than my M, but well designed, well crafted, comfy, quiet, etc. I agree with the dealers at Infiniti. I am lucky to have a great dealer and great service rep, but I know that is rare. Seems Infiniti have gotten lost along the way. Originally, the entire idea was to make a new vehicle specifically for the US market to compete with Acura and Lexus. Nissan would now have a high-line product for those buyers. For a while they were bang on perfect, but then the ball got dropped and now they seem lost, making sedans that look like any other sedan. No more cutting edge tech, no new advancements, just another version of the generic full size sedan. The q50, Q60, and QX50 are going well but the rest of the line-up has fallen behind. No re-design, no upgrade, no reason to make it stand out from the previous model years.
I hope that by the time I'm ready to part with my 2009 M, the latest Q70 will be worth considering, but my car has more features (rear TV screen in the roof, reclining temp controlled rear seats with arm rest controls) and higher reliability. After 100k miles, it still looks and performs like showroom new. If the Q70 remains as the same as the 2019's, I will become a used Jag owner.

Agreed on all accounts. Really wanted to like the Q70, but felt front heavy with the V8 and the 20's make you feel like your riding on Flintstone wheels. Tech is behind the times too. Ended up trading my M45 for a GS-F which is far superior to the Q70 5.6 S. Dealer Experiance at Lexus is better too (my Infiniti dealer didn't want to deal on their Q70). Love this forum though and will still stop by occassionally.

I've always been a fan of Lexus. The recent years have that cow-catcher grill that I just can't get my head around. I thought time would help me get passed it, but so far, not. With the Q70 it's the exact opposite for me. The front and rear end are absolutely brilliant! It's everything in between that is just ho-hum. Still, cow-catcher grille aside, the Lexus GS is astonishing and has more features than any Infiniti model. Mind you, I still love my 2nd M as much as I did my first M. I'm just not sure where I will go after it's time is up. I'm still leaning towards the Jag - or I like to say: Gyaaaaaaaaaaaag.

I'm right there with you theo. Looking to trade my 06 m35x for an 18 Civic si. Loving the gas mileage not a fan of the fwd but oh well. I plan on keeping the Civic till it catches fire lol. Once she is paid off I will get whatever big boy sedan Infiniti has on the market then.

Ah, sorry to hear you had to trade it in and couldn't replace with with another luxury performance rear-wheel biased sedan or small SUV.
I am still hanging on to mine - it's 2007 M35x with 232k km (144k miles) and I will keep driving it as long as it won't give me any major trouble.

I’ve piled on the Mileage on the Accord . Drove it to Flordia from Toronto shortly after buying it. 4000 miles or so and it averaged almost 35 mpgs , Toronto to West Virg on a 15 gal tank. Regular octane . That’s crazy after feeding the M for so long.
I miss the additional HPs of the M and the Megan exhaust note but the Accords power almost seems more usable. Throttle response after the slight turbo lag is way better.the sport mode which tightens up steering , Dampners and throttle response and adds a turbo boost gauge to the digital cluster is nice.
The land departure is almost autonomous driving , but requires a finger to be on the wheel . The smart cruise will stop the car and continue when traffics starts moving. Combine the 2 and you can almost take a nap. Totally Feature packed for the price point .

Honda is offering a bunch of cosmetic upgrades like illuminated door sills and a blacked out front grill. I’ll be on the door sills soon.

I’ve already added tint and 3M paint protection. Tint shop is elitetint.ca and an outstanding operation for anyone reading and local .

Fit and finish is good for the first model of the new generation imo anyways. some are complaining of missalighned hoods , a dash rattle at HUD unit and hood flutter at highway speeds , I see the hood issue on my car and dont feel it is major. I might get it looked at next oil change .

Cheers

Thats my strategy, drive it until it falls apart .

hoping to pay off the little I owe quick and pick up a used mustang GT ... maybe a rag top. I’m already looking once and awhile. It’ll be a V8 stick 100% sure of that .
