Keep the wheels you love and that already fit and have them widened to your desired width/offset for $150/wheel.

I like it!

I didnt know that was possible. Doesnt sound like the safest approach, but I'd like to hear some actual experiences...

I've heard about a # of guys with old school wheels doing this. It seems like it would be durable enough for daily and some racing but I wouldn't wanna put those through a lot of stressful situations

Very very nice wheels, but NOT set up for daily driving, guys. Those spools well get absolutely eaten up on regular road with any sort of mileage. Trust me, I looked into it for the same reasons, and they are TRACK ONLY.

Glad to hear from someone with more in-depth knowledge of this than myself. Thanks, Fiz, for the headsup.

If you don't mind my asking, why are they track only? Just curious.

Well I'm far from an expert on this, but my understanding is they are made to be extremely light, for race purposes. This is good when you're only going to do maybe 1000 miles (thats a lot of quarter mile passes!), but for more heavy duty (daily) driving, a wheel needs much more material on there for support. A lighter, weaker wheel just doesnt hold up.

EDIT: Re-reading your post, I realise now that I misread it. I saw "weld" and "wheels" in the URL and assumed it was linking to Weld Wheels: http://www.weldracing.com/ which are custom made lightweight spools for race-only applications. The link you posted is completely different... honstly I'm not sure how those would hold up... Weird...

For $100 less, AzHitman posted a company name/phone# offering a full setup of new 4-to-5 lug conversion parts. Brand new OE bearing and everything. I *think* it was in the 240-Gen forum, not sure. It's a sticky. Maybe Uncle Sam will be good to me this year.

Cool, but unfortunately Your offset would only get worse if you did this to the stock wheels, unless you added lip.

What about this site?

Granted it is for factory steel wheels only.... But 4-lug 15x8 in whatever offset?!?!?!

Yeah I would love to do that for some drift spares. Get some stock steelies, widen them to 15x9 rear and 15x8 front, and then be able to run some stretched tires.
