:yesnod

My foot would be up so many asses.
I'd probably give the judge the goat for good measure too... either that or become a member of the government, and steal the s*** out of his cars. See how he likes it. Law Abiding Citizen style.

Why get pissed at the Judge? He's following the law. Plus, I don't know that they'd be able to get at the Federal Government anyways. The agent, for sure, but he's not paid nearly enough for that, so the company that owns the Ferrari is pretty well screwed.

"there is a law that grants immunity if property is in the custody of law enforcement!"
Really?

If someone steals a car and uses that car to transport narcotics or other contraband (stolen vehicles are often use to transport illegal goods and/or to commit crimes as opposed to the perpitrators personal property), and law enforcement seizes the vehicle and has to search it, that vehicle will most likey get disassembled and/or damanged in the process. My guess is that was probably the reason the law the judge cited was enacted in the first place. In those cases, the owner of the vehicle should not pursue the government for damage to their property, but the person who stole it. In this case, however, I'm betting an appellate or supreme court will be receptive to hearing the case.

well first of all, if you're making the rules wouldn't you make them in your favor? Sure I think its pretty shady that the government can do something like this and basically screw the taxpayers for it. Honestly though, I'd rather see that insurance company eat it than have my taxpayer money pay for a ferrari that was stolen..

Next of all, as said it's not the judge's fault, its the judge's job to uphold and interpret the law, so if the rules were already wrote...

This^

But on a side note how did they deem that a total loss... Give me about 60 hours of work and some materials ( rivet gun, rivets, bondo, fiberglass, and heat gun) I would have that girl looking good!!!

(^^ being that their is nothing wrong otherwise except visual)

Pretty sure there is frame damage from that side hit.. If thats nothing big, im pretty sure the rear quilter doesn't just come right off...Not a big deal? Have fun getting overs and a new bumpers and all that good junk from farrier...

Not saying your wrong but it sounds like its more work then its worth, like you said it might not just be visual. there is no telling without being there to look over every inch of it.

They should definitely sue the agent who wrecked it. He wasn't on official business when he "borrowed" it. It would be quite difficult to collect however.

On another note, I've never noticed the NACA duct inside the scoop before...

Yeah well, ruin his life. Maybe then he'll (and other law enforcement members) will think twice about taking your stuff. If he gets away with this scott-free, there is nothing stopping anyone else from doing the same, aside from their non-existent morals.
