I'm just looking for a real simple car alarm. Unlock doors, lock doors, roll down windows, roll up windows, something that goes off if someone actually touches my car, not if some car with a deep exhaust rolls by. You know what I mean? I don't need satelite tracking, or something overkill, just something simple, anyone have any reccomendations? And any idea of out the door installed cost? Personally I'm looking to spend around the $200 area maybe more, maybe less, I want a good brand, you know? Thanks!

for that price you wont be able to get window roll up or down. that feature alone will cost up to a hundred dollars with module and labor. you cant go wrong with any DEI piece. Go to directed electronics website and take a look at all the lines they carry. example clifford and vipor.

Damn, oh well, well, in the $200+/- plus install price cost range, what is good then for just simply, unlock, lock, and go off when something hits my car? Any model reccomendations?

The basic Viper is great. I have had it on my 99 I30T for three years and actually had it defeat a break-in attempt. Someone actually thought the blinking LED was fake evidently. What was really unreal was that 2 LEDS were blinking.......the Infiniti factory LED plus the Viper LED. The alarm went off around 4 AM when the shock sensor triggered on the passenger window. I woke up to see some dumb SOB speeding off. Had to replace the window but that was better than replacing car. To this day I cannot figure why a crook would try to steal a car with two LEDs warning away. This Viper alarm did its job.

On another forum, someone reccomended the Viper 1000, and looking on the site, I don't quite understand the big differences between the 300HV and 1000. Any real reason to shell out the extra cash?

The basic Viper is a very good system. The series numbers keep getting bigger but that's about it. I have the 500ESP and it is a great 3 year old system. (See previous post). Just get the basic Viper is my advice.

I just had the Python 881XP installed in my Infiniti locally for remote start, and it has a couple of kinks to get worked out (not auto adjusting the seats when I insert the key if the vehicle was remotely started, and *always unlocks all four doors as opposed to the OEM unlocking of driver's side only on first press of unlock button) and am otherwise extremely happy with it. I will get more details on the install process, including the modules included, and such, when I go back to the installer's place of business and get everything cleared up. It was a bit pricier than $200, running me almost $500, but it as well worth it in my opinion.
