Hey guys I have looked into getting a 240 before but ended up buying a 96 Firebird. Anyways I just got a offer to buy 2 240sx. They are both 89 or 90s since they are the pig noise style. Anyways one has 125k and the other has 130k. They have been sitting for a while but one of them started today and the other had no power even with a battery and a jumper. Anyways the guys wants $550 for both of the cars. I was thinking of going in with a friend and buying them up and turning them in to track day cars. Both are 5spds also. So would they be worth picking up?

SR's are overrated. Research all your options...

Well the funds will come in over the years. I know my firend has wanted an sr swap ever since he had his s14. As for now they cars would become get running on the old ka. Plus its nice to know the main guys in the local scca. It will come but the these cars are defiantly worth looking into. Found they are both hatches with no spoilers

An excellent reason to get an SR!

No offense, but... I encourage you to look into your options more.

Ill be looking into my options. If I had the money if would have a ls1 or ls2 going into it. Might save up for that. However I might look into doing a kadet or I would not mine a doing a rb20 or rb25 swap. Great sounding engines.

i loves SR's, mostly because there just 95% direct swaps, so us dumbdumbs with no mechanical know how can put one in. ls1's, 2jz's, etc are much harder to do and to be honest i know if i tryed doing a swap like that itd turn into something of a mechanical horror movie like this

Yeah, thats why he wants to a sr. Thats pretty much a weekend job. Mine could sit around for while I make a decision. I know a lot in the gm v8 would and have watched a lot of guys on my forums doing ls swaps. It looks good just cost a lot for the mounts and engine.

^^^ If your motor is in decent condition, there is literally no option for a big increase in power and torque that is easier than KA-T (or KA+nitrous, depending on your power goals). Just assemble the proper parts, put them on, get the car tuned.

I'm not bashing SR's... I just thought I smelled something curiously similar to fanboy...

^^^Lolz... Happens like that sometime. I could inqure more about your turbo setup, but I don't really care enuff too. I'll just say that KA-T can be really reliable if you take the proper steps or precautions before 'throwing together a turbo kit'.

Good look with your purchase and car , OP.

yeah it was some t25 setup off craigslist, and i did throw it together, i should have taken my time but it was my DD and i had to ride the metro buses when i was doing it and after getting asked for sex by a bum on the bus i was alittle scared so i threw it together as fast as i could

oh yeah and i forgot to say to the OP, yes get those 2 240's

550 is a good price on a good condition running one (like you said in the beginning that 1 started up and ran) so its like getting a free 240 with the purchase of the other

Be cautious of what you will get when you buy 2 cars for 550$. I know s13s arent as expensive but for all you know there might be so much rust on each car that you'll end up scrapping one for the metal to patch the other.

also, please dont become an SR fanboy, it's just not a smart way to make power. I have nothing against them, it's just somewhat pointless with how many options you have.

Lolz! That's crazy! You shoulda did like O-Dog from Menace to Society wit dat crackhead... lol

Stuff like this is why I always make certain recommendations if you're going KA-T:-buy a spare motor for cheap so you can drive your car during your project.-overhaul said spare motor back OEM specs with a metal headgasket.-get the proper upgrades to support your target hp level.-swap the motor with some buddies over a weekend.-find a top notch tuner to tune the hell out of it.-Enjoy.

Personally, I think that the minimum you should spend on a KA-T job should be about $3k. But if you do that, you'll have a motor easily capable of 350hp.
