good price for early 90's 240SX fastback with blown motor...

hey... i'm looking into buying an early 90's 240SX fastback. the motor is blown and i plan on dropping in a SR20DET as soon as i have the money. I'm only 17, so i don't have a million bucks to spend. what is a reasonable price to pay for this car? I don't want to spend my life savings just to own a car that doesn't run...

It depends on the condition and your negotiating skills. I paid $250 for my non-running 1992, it needs a coat of paint and some interior cleaning. Have you looked at the car yet? What are they asking?

yes, the car is in good condition overall but the motor is "bad" and it doesn't run. this part doesn't bother me because i planned on a SR20DET red-top swap anyway. the car is owned by the son of the woman i have spoken to. i had to do some investigating, but he will sell it and he doesn't have a price in mind. i'm the only person interested so i don't have any real competition in coming up with a price. i have $300 and i really don't want to pay over $250. i'm going to have to trailer the car to my garage as it is, even though it's only 1/2 mile from my house! any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

I also paid 250 for my blown motor 91'. You have to look at it this way, if they want it gone quickly then they have to sell it to a scrapyard who will only give them ~300 for it.

actually it's mostly downhill so i'll probably do that. get some buddys and push. only problem is getting it out of the guys lawn shes sunk into the ground a little (2-3")
